So the idea is that all the death around the world has caused a massive uptick in bug and insect (and rodents?) population. And as a result they've been going on a rampage simultaneously driving up the fear of each and every type of creature, creating an army of super bug/rodent devils, who for some reason have converged on our protagonists.

Also based on Yoru's expression and the fact that we don't see Asa, I'm really doubting we can trust what Yoru says. Yet another layer of fucked upness to this whole chapter
I will say one thing, I never truly know where this story is gonna go at any given moment.
