Oh look, more things nobody asked for stuffed into Firefox.
Firefox
A community for discussion about Mozilla Firefox.
I don't mind the option to see the weather on a new tab, but it's sponsored content (literally coming from a service that is paying Mozilla money to be included there), and you have no control over which service it uses...
I assume this is appearing on your home screen, i.e. when you open a new otherwise blank tab?

This is accessible via the edit button at the bottom right.
Yes! – so many thanks, I've never seen that button! 🙏 This is the first time I received this "weather" question. Yet I always start from a blank page.
Why is firefox enshittifying when it isn't publically traded
It's an easy cash grab: They get paid under the table to connect to these services. They're doing it with the weather provider here. They did it with Perplexity AI and Ecosia for search. They probably did it with the providers in the AI sidebar.
For all their blather about choice, Mozilla only presents you with options that align with their pocketbook.
never seen this. where is it?
First time I've seen this too, but apparently it's been there from previous versions. See dual_sport_dork's reply.
oh i changed the "new tab" page to about:blank in firefox 4. no wonder i haven't seen any of this.
Where do you see this? I recently updated to Firefox 148, I'd already disabled the weather from the Settings screen, and I haven't run into it.
Probably that's why. I have never seen any weather-related messages or options before, wonder why they appeared only with v148 for me...
Where on the screen was it? Top left or top right, perhaps?
The weather question was on the top right (Firefox for desktop, Kubuntu).
