point-and-laugh-1

YOU can run Doom.

It turns out you don't need a lot of brain cells to play Doom.

Eh, individual neurons aren't people any more than skin cells are

oh neat Starfish by Peter Watts

[–] Wheaties@hexbear.net 5 points 1 day ago

I say "neat" but this is rather unsettling. Kinda in the way all the LLM bros keep insisting their chatbot is supposed to be.

basically yeah

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 day ago

Yeah but can those brain cells appreciate the sick soundtrack?

[–] Xavienth@lemmygrad.ml 5 points 1 day ago

Silly thought: Playing doom using dedicated neuronal circuitry vs simulating doom by using your trillions of neurons to imagine playing doom, like an LLM hallucinating doom compared to a simple executable running the game.

Stop imagining doom! It's a waste of resources!

Cyberpunk grimdark setting where you have China on one side with cool Tau-like hypertech against a sort of mechanicus/Ork type thing in NATO where they replaced microchips from Taiwan with BioBrainComputers. Artificial intelligence just becomes intelligence.
Basically Trench Crusade where you replace christianity with techbros.

Here's the video, not as impressive as the article suggests: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRV8fSw6HaE
