Rules

AI Art: While we appreciate AI generated art, there are more appropriate communities to post that type of art to. Please keep posts to non-AI generated art only. This rule includes AI art that was then manually manipulated (e.g. drawing on top of something generated by AI).

NSFW Policy: Nudity and suggestive content has always been a part of art, but it may be something that some users don't wish to see or cannot view in certain circumstances (e.g. at work). If your work contains nudity or suggestive content, please mark it as NSFW. Work that contains nudity or suggestive content that is not marked as NSFW will be taken down. As long as the NSFW tag is used, we welcome nude or suggestive subject matter. If you aren't sure if your work is NSFW or not, just ask yourself, "Could I look at this at a typical office job and not get into trouble?" If you're still not sure after that, you should probably mark it as NSFW just to be on the safe side.

Spam: Please do not spam this community. Self promotion is fine if you just want people to be aware of your work, but blatant attempts at spam will result in the past being removed and possibly a ban. If you aren't sure if what you are posting is spam, please contact the moderator first.

Conduct: Be nice, and don't be a jerk. Constructive criticism is OK, but don't be mean. Encouragement is always welcomed.

I tried multiple times to get his face right. Three hours of drawing and erasing. I couldn't get it. Total failure. I'll try again some other year. Hopefully before the cancer gets Bruce Campbell. But sometimes you don't ink the drawing you want but the drawing you did.

All forms of criticism welcome.

It could be a movie poster:

Watch Daniel Craig as Ash in Evil Dead 4 The Revenge of S-Mart

Its hard to say for sure because of perspective but a general rule is that eyes are closer to center line of head between top and bottom, and hairline lower than you have it here.

Also, he needs more chin. Thats not nearly enough Chin for this angle, move it to our right his left.

To push masculine features you use blockier features and sharper edges, for feminine rounder and softer.

The proportions are all traced from his actual face. I tried exaggerating things like his distinctive chin and larger forehead etc. I went straight up caricature proportions. Still failed. Went back to real proportions.

This looks like it's from the newer "Ash vs Evil Dead", so part of the issue is that he looks "less like himself" to people who'd recognise him from the films in the 1980s and early 90s - he's 25-30 years older, so his distinctive chin etc just isn't that distinctive in the source photo.

The reference source is definitely '80s, not modern

Weird, it looks almost exactly like this inage from the new one:

Though it wouldn't surprise me if they've reused the same pose from an earlier film though - anyway, my point was the facial features seemed to match the older Ash quite well, compared to his very narrow face and square jaw in the 80s.

Totally reused because he didn't look like that at the time it came out.

A lot of us know who it is, not a fail in my book. Better than most people can do.

My man just had a chainsaw accident and lost his nose?

It already looks like his one hand is the chainsaw, roll with it.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He does have a chainsaw for a hand in the movie.

[–] FauxPseudo@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

Literally. Chainsaw for a hand. It's all in the historical documents.
