Are you referring to David Mitchell the comedian, or the author of Cloud Atlas?
Or are they both the same person, too?
A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.
Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:
If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.
Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

The very successful comedian. They both use humor in the same way ... they take what someone asserts and then runs very far with the argument to prove how it is absurd.
It is not that they look alike ... it is one was rough-handled out of a communist state and the other has been anxietied from the hearth of a empire on life support and yet their humor uses the same structure.
Sorry just something that I actually thought of while in the shower
Neither of them look remotely like Slavoj Zizek
I haven't had time to build out or promote the community, so there's only one post right now, but this would be perfect for !totallylookslike@dubvee.org if you had a side-by-side image.
Tangentially related; I saw a video of Slavoj where he was speaking his native Slovenian, and he didn't once nervously touch his nose. Seems to be a thing he only does in English, which is interesting.
That's more like a fever dream than a shower thought.
Holy shit thanks for sharing. Was unaware of this great comedy and only tangentialy aware of Zizek
It seems like that would be a pretty good shower thought if I could make any sense of it at all. Profile says "prompt engineer." Did an LLM come up with it? Or is there something I don't know about David Mitchell and/or Slavoj Zizek?
The profile reads as satire to me
