Portal 2 with a friend, after a two-year long hiatus. Looks like we accidentally went to the last level after level 2, watched the ending cutscene, now we're back to playing level 3 lol.

Backpack Hero is my current daily game. It's a nice fun roguelite although I sometimes wish it was a little harder. Taking a break from Hades II for a while even though I am possibly one step away from finishing the main story.

Replayed halfway through Resident Evil Requiem, this time without using the blood collector (for the challenge/achievement). I think it's more fun without being able to craft ammo or ribbons whenever you want, but it also doesn't seem like it makes the game any harder. I did end up pausing the playthrough after reaching the more open area with Leon as I couldn't get a stable framerate on the pc I was playing on and I was kinda bored of playing him.

I played through AI: Somnium Files - The Nirvana Initiative. I thought it was fine, I liked the original more. The "twist" was honestly really dumb and I don't think it works, and in general the story felt weaker than the first. I appreciate that there were more real puzzles, but I still prefer 999 and VLR (I still have to play ZTD).

I finished the story Pacific Drive, and I'm not sure how I feel about the ending. It was nice, but it just kind of... happened? It was a bit anticlimactic, imo. But, I still find the gameplay super fun, so I'm still driving around the Zone and seeing what all I can collect and upgrading the base.

Also started Diablo 4 Season 12. I'm trying the Spiritborn class again and hoping that I have a better time than last time I used that class. It is really fun being the Butcher though, lol.

I bought a seventh copy of Skyrim on Sunday. I’ve never owned it on PC and I’m going to mod it till I break it. I know I’m over a decade late but that’s what’s happening this week.

It’s never too late! I don’t even like Skyrim but it’s literally never too late to have more fun with older games.

I'm early in Act 2 in my latest Baldur's Gate 3 run.

Rolling around with the increased party limit is nice, because I get to hear a bunch of banter, that I'd never hear otherwise. I've basically never used Minthara, Jaheira or Minsc, and Halsin only once (he wouldn't stop flirting with Shadowheart in that playthrough). Since I'm trying to fuck everyone as well (except maybe Squid Man), there are also a ton of camp events. Act 1 had so many, that I had to long rest five or six times back-to-back at the end, in hopes of not missing one. Act 2 looks to be a bit more quiet right now, but Act 3 should get a ton again, with all the dates or conclusions to the companion quests.

Coal LLC

It's been my very much needed weekend destress game. One of those games, similar to Cloverpit, where I thought I wouldn't like it... until I played it.

Slay The Spire

I'd love to play STP2, but I am saving money for a trip first weekend of April. It's probably gonna be some time mid April or May when I can finally get the early access, assuming they don't take it down for whatever reason.

Sonic Rush Adventure

Also a much needed destress game. Perfect for on the go on my 3DS.

Rise of the Ronin

Still having fun with the game, but a small hint of "fuck me, this is a long game isn't it?" is beginning to crop up. I am itching to explore some more fighting styles but there are still like a dozen of them I haven't found and another dozen whose final moves I can't access because they simply say "continue story" or "spar with ??? in the dojo to unlock". Maybe I should have beelined the main quest more, but... that's not really how you play an open world game is it?

All the same, the combat is super awesome, Ryoma is a great character and I can't wait to romance him. If you can pick it up on sale and have a good PC that can run it, you enjoy parrying (and don't mind open world games) I would recommend it.

Ninja Gaiden

Finished chapter 6 of NG4. It was pretty tough even on Hard, and quite annoying at times. I don't want to know what Master Ninja is like. The playthrough is going slowly since Ronin is taking most of my time, but I don't want to completely lose track of it since I am really enjoying the game. I also snuck in some random chapter challenge gameplay of modded Ninja Gaiden 2 Black since there is just something special about NG2 and the moveset mod is so much fun. Still waiting for the release of the final version of the White mod, at which point I'll probably do a full playthrough of it on Mentor difficulty (Master Ninja is... probably not in my skillset).

Chrono Ark

I started another run, but really haven't played much as Ronin sidetracked me so much. I really need to get back to it. This is a great game and I really do want to see that true ending.

Hi, I'm playing Sekiro. I'm still early in the game, but combat is clicking! kicked Genichiro's ass and it felt so good.

Never heard or Cairn, what kind of game is it?

[–] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 4 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Cairn is like a... climbing simulator? From what I've seen. It looks neat.

How are you finding Sekiro? I still haven't tackled it, I'm too intimidated by both the parrying, the inability to "hide" (no over leveling, no magic, no cheese) and also... I suck at rhythm games.

[–] GrantUsEyes@lemmy.zip 4 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago) (1 children)

Oh! Very creative... it always surprises me the kind of stuff people will make into a sim game!

TLDR: It's gooood! It took some adjusting, ngl. Letting go of the muscle memory of the trad. soulslike formula. But I'm having a good time. Steeper learning curve, but not as hard as it's reputation makes it out to be.

TangentI got sorta stuck in a no combat part of the game, trying to reach a new area, lost patience and got distracted with DS3, (but that save got corrupted over the weekend . RIP ಥ_ಥ) so I'm back to Sekiro

I was scared of it for the longest time but after playing Lies of P I lost my fear of parrying and decided to just go for it. Parrying is the easy part, actually.

What's challenging is you have to learn how to properly answer the enemy's moves, and have to be decisive enough to build the stance damage. So, no fucking around, Hesitation IS defeat, yeah... damn right!

It is 100% a rhythm game and the way to approach it is rigid, but it also feels fair and very doable, at least up to this point. I haven't encountered any fuckery yet. It's still very early in the game so... Who knows.

Skill wise I'm nothing to write home about, so I feel that if I can do it, probably most can. I do attribute all my soulslike success to me being somewhat rythmically inclined, tho. So experiences may vary...( I also have never measured myself against a ""real"" rhythm game, those seem hard af, my hunch is that I probably woudn't be that good. )

Game does guilt trip you about dying a lot. XD

Tap for spoilerBut aparently turns out it's not the end of the world

[–] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 1 points 7 minutes ago

Well, I will definitely follow your playthrough and listen to your thoughts as you get deeper into it. Since Rise of the Ronin (that I'm playing currently) also is very parry-focused I'm getting closer to thinking I might be able to tackle Sekiro but... I'm still scared. Ronin still has a lot of safety nets like buffs, heals, allies, martial arts, guns etc to help you through fights if you're struggling.

I’ve been slowly replaying The Long Dark to prepare for the final episode to release, only a few weeks left! I’m part way though episode 2 so far and I’ve never played episode 4 so it’ll be a lot of new stuff.

I’ve also played a bit of Lucid Blocks which is pretty much a perfect little twist on a Minecraft style game. Exploring the world is weird and fun, and the crafting system feels very vibes-based but is learnable (especially by stamping recipes in the book). Definitely worth a few hours if you have that Minecraft itch but don’t want to play the regular game. Also it’s made with Godot!

Cairn looks so good! I played a lot of Baby Steps last year so I think I’ll enjoy it whenever I pick it up
