Ottawa chatrooms:

Please note the following:

* All chatrooms are linked together. If you join one room your messages will be copied to the other platforms.

* Matrix is an open source and potentially distributed chat protocol. The matrix room listed is hosted on matrix.org, a somewhat centralized hub for a lot of currently public rooms. Though the protocol itself is free, libre and open source, the deployment of the protocol resembles a centralized service. This may be fixed in the future with the deployment of independent servers.

* Be aware that both Telegram and Discord are centralized proprietary platforms and do not necessarily protect your rights nor privacy while simultaneously giving power to corporations.

Ottawa households will be allowed to put out six garbage items on their scheduled garbage collection day between March 30 and April 24, as a new waste collection schedule means some households will go three weeks between collection days.

The City of Ottawa has sent a letter by Canada Post to residents outlining their waste collection day may be changing.

You can find out your garbage, recycling and green bin collection date on the city’s website at https://ottawa.ca/en/3-1-1/report-or-request/garbage-recycling-and-organic-waste/garbage-and-recycling-collection-calendar.

Hope weather isn't too warm when it happens.

The situation is pretty hairy depending on where you are. Not everyone is affected, so it’s best to check the city’s website to make sure you know if this impacts you.

Tokyo has garbage collection twice a week… wtf Canada…

Montreal used to have 2x/week garbage collection

I assume they have much smaller bins and denser neighborhoods than Canada.

Bins are the same size. If the neighborhood is less dense, great your the truck drives farther between stops. Canadians just don’t want to pay for anything and would rather rationalise living in filthy cities.
