If you're not going to give me treats then leave me alone

Someone needs a diet I think....

A diet consisting only of treats!

Work got a gigantic box of medjool dates to celebrate(?) Eid. Delicious! I ate about 10 and I'm worried for my toilet but YOLO

I have a cute little story to tell you. YL went to visit a potential pet parent yesterday.

The brief: Looking after a lovely chill little assistance dog (chihuahua) on occasions that doesn't like to be left alone because his little pal (dog) left one day and never came back.

Reality: YL is let into the home and notices a tiny little dog hiding shyly behind dog mama. Out of nowhere a bird comes and lands on her shoulder and starts talking to her. "Are you ok?" It says.

Dog/bird mama says "Oh I forgot to ask if you're ok with birds" which YL replies with "yeah. All good". "Great let's met the rest of the family". YL is thinking "humans?". No. Wrong. 6 other birds. Buddy (not actual name) is now preening her hair. Gently. Not to be out done, another bird comes and lands on her head. They are both now preening her. Gently.

Some notes: Buddy likes shiny things. Buddy likes to hide shiny things. Watch out when you turn on the ceiling fan.

If you can't find cutlery, check the ceiling fan.

Be careful shutting the dish washer. They like to get in there. Also cupboards. Anything really that gets left open.

Showering alone is not possible unless you lock them out of the bathroom. If you don't mind, they will watch you, make comments or try to shower with you.

If they see you washing your hands they will try and bathe in your hands. All of them will want a go.

Be careful when turning the corner in the hallway. They like to have races.

They will try to drink from your cup.

There's no TV. They ate it.

Conclusion: She was a Disney Princess for an hour. She loved it and cannot wait. I laughed the entire time she told me this story.

Dog pics WHEN?! Open to bird pics as well! That household sounds hilarious.

I hope YL is being well compensated for not just the dog then! "Forgetting" to mention 6 birds sounds like a weird oversight.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 2 days ago

7 birds!!! Yeah imagine forgetting about your other 7 children with wings and only mentioning the one that sits in the corner with its ipad. Weird but not my problem.

sounds awesome πŸ˜ΈπŸΆπŸ•ŠοΈ

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I know right! I told her to watch her language around the birds because they'll tell.

Reminds me of my cousin's partner's family birds. It says "fuck you" a lot...

Another day off tomorrow. I've got the medical certificate and other stuff out of the way. Once I drop the kids off this could be a full eightish hours off just me time. There are a few small things I want to do that could take up a morning or mid afternoon, but I can primarily just chill.

The bar I was at Saturday night lessens the horror of your bill by presenting it with a sweet treat. This time it was macarons and I overheard the staff moaning that the only ones left were blue and they stain everything. I gleefully offered to swap my passionfruit one for a blue one and oh, stain everything it does indeed – lips, fingers and, ah, some internals.

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 4 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Aldi has sheet sets at the moment for a very reasonable price.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 4 points 2 days ago

How tedious is peeling prawns? The temptation of peel, eat, peel, eat is great but I didn't sample any and kept all the bits for a nice stock. Well done me.

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

YAYYY!!! This is a very impressive level of self control. Its FATAL to taste just one peeled prawn - the remainder goes down the hatch so so very easily.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 3 points 2 days ago

I know right! The test for me was going passed all the lebanese sweet shops and not stopping. I have the control.

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That is an amazing level of self control. I love prawns.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 2 days ago

Yes it is. Sometimes I eat well during prep and the fam get the leftovers. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

How many emails do I have to send asking for work to do before I give up lol

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Best case scenario is they kind of forgot about you and you can just turn up and do whatever like you're in Office Space

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I've gone canvassing for new business

Slug Fight

But I have questions. So many questions. How are fights resolved? how do you know when it's ended? What is the concept of dominance and submission in the slug world?? How do they classify defeat???

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 3 points 2 days ago

They just slug it out

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 3 days ago

I reckon they go hard with the sledging.

I think I've found a new regular barber. Where the old place was usually a half day affair with all the waiting, I was straight in/out with this one

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Very smokey out there the past few days.

That is not great.

[–] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I think they are doing planned burns out near Trugininna but yeah my sinuses are struggling

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 3 points 2 days ago

A lot of farmers are also burning off stubble at this time of year.

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 5 points 3 days ago

So tired. One more hour before I can go home to bed. Can't wait. I changed the bedding yesterday so it is going to be glorious.
