Dog sitting update.

Neighbour asked me if it's okay if him and his missus stay out till late and can dog stay here.

I benevolently agreed....not letting onto that the dog has been walked, fed and is currently snuggled up to me on the couch.

I'm sleeping on the couch tonight it seems.

Made it home from footy.

I’m going to bed with a glass of water the size of my head

Ugh! Random agoraphobia while out at the shops for ramen ingredients. Do not want. What the heck.

At least the ramen slaps.

This very cheap ebay reader claims that this cat doesn’t have a chip, but due to its quality it can’t really be trusted. And he was trying to come inside 😭 Which I can’t allow because I haven’t even got the floor bare and clear to be able to repetitively vacuum it. And he wouldn’t accept confinement. Ringworm is making everything harder.

No idea what the future holds… I’m currently barely able to look after myself let alone have another pet. But I might see if I can get hold of a higher quality scanner. I’ve rehoisted the sail and set the bin up with the straw bedding so I hope he finds it.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

hugs, you're doing great, really πŸ«‚

and so kind to black cat, straw is like the best bed for cats, so warm and healthy πŸˆβ€β¬›

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I need to rebuild the frame of the enclosure he was initially hiding under and half hide the bin-bed… that might feel more secure to him

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago

I think he already feels safe because you are so kind. 😸

Yeah this tarp has liberated itself from half the clamps and tried to sail the world. The sheer size of it lets it catch too much air. It’s also released a flap that’s in the way of where he jumps out of the yard.

Will try to order a couple of shitty Kmarget tarps and reassess.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Today is the worst day to have a tarp outside

Neighbour is dogsitting an Australian shepherd this week. The dog's owner is a mutual friend.

Neighbour had to run errands today and the dog is crying. Messaged neighbour that I'm taking the dog to my house (have keys to his joint) and he can stay out longer.

Doggo is snoozing on the couch right now and has made himself at home.

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I understand there's a connection with the Basque sheepherders of early California - I believe they were the first to develop the breed. Only reasonable I reckon to call a dog with absolutely NO connection to Australia an Australian Shepherd. We already had kelpies and heelers so not needed by us as working dogs.

I’ve had a pleasantly productive day at work (a nice change from this week’s programming) and have footy tickets tonight.

Ver good

Has anyone had a β€œcanker sore” on their tongue before? I just woke up with this sore yesterday. Eating has now become a painful experience. Food has to be in liquid form to go down and even then it still hurts. Booked in with the doc for later today.

Dinner will need to be some kind of soup.

Stress caused apparently, it’s amazing how much stress messes up our physical health too.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Rub some Vegemite on it, that stings but can help. Or get some Chlorofluor oral gel from the chemist.

Make sure you’re up on B12 (so Marmite might be a better choice of spread)

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 4 points 1 day ago

yup.

Xylocaine. Gel. not ointment. Safe for oral use. Available at chemist. will numb like the dickens.

Filled up the car today. We are lucky that due to work from home options, and most things we need are close a drive we won’t need to fill up again for a good while. Feel bad for those driving diesels that don’t have such lucky circumstances.

Pizza time at work today because we work off a whack ass financial year here

I am just 1000 steps away from completing this weeks fitness goals. πŸ’ͺπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

At the moment I'm still focusing mostly on just working out a baseline for what I can actually do and what timing works out best. I have definitely lost a lot of strength since the last time I was doing exercise, I'm tired out by a very low level of work at the moment.

The treadmill has been working well, being able to watch a video while I walk makes it much easier to motivate myself to get a few extra steps at the end of the day if I need to (and will definitely be much easier once winter hits). It also has a wi-fi connection to a phone app so I can create my own programs, so I've got a basic interval program to start with to try and up my capacity to be able to do some running as well. It does fold away really easily too, so I can also use the same space for doing my weights and it is still usable as a study. I

Weighed myself today. Lost 5kg in less than two weeks due to the depression. Jfc.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Would you have a postal box to send a can of Ensure powder to?

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Nah I don't have a PO box, but I'm honestly not adverse to giving you my address lol, I trust you.

I also appreciate your offer immensely πŸ™ I've just lacked an appetite at all, so eating has become a major chore. I have soup I can reheat tonight, but I'll let you know if this doesn't stop πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ you are truly the kindest soul

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Let me know if you’d feel comfortable with me sending it, I have some spare (new and unopened)

This is an amazing show if you like cats

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I ventured to the local NQR store for the first time today. I'm not sure if I like going there for the value or because they have different things to buy. I've stocked up on salmon, in the form of both burgers and frozen cooked chunks. I also got some turkey schnitzels and a frozen veg mix.

There was one small mess up - I thought I was buying a bottle of shampoo and two of conditioner, but it was actually two shampoos and one conditioner. As I always use the conditioner quicker this will lead to a significant imbalance.

If the wind dies down a little I might nip on down to the close beach to see what the storms have brought in.

no rain might also be good

When your kid does good. Same kid who eats cold baked beans out of the can and says they're good.

Got my first bunting from Sammy today, and Cerys gave them their first hiss (not a bad one, she zoomed forward to eat a snack they'd accidentally bunted under the door and they were all up in her business so she said back off. Ears up and tail unfloofed). They also saw the electronic shutters open for the first time today and it blew their kitty minds

I definitely bought way too much tarp for my needs... I've quickly secured it the best I can but that thing is billowing like a spinnaker. It's probably not going to stay. Adjustments will have to be made to redirect the water runoff or prevent pooling too.

spoilerGetting shit done but vividly recalling the feeling of a sick sooky Melbcat burrowing her soft head into the crook of my neck for comfort.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

not just for her comfort, but yours. She's there with you.
