So many great games on GameCube that my friends and I still play today.

I haven't seen anyone here mention Chibi Robo, a delightfully cute story with a gameplay loop that you dont really see anymore, but I think it holds up well.

Mario Party 6 and 7 are absolute classics, and my friend group plays both regularly.

Mario Cart Double Dash and SSBM are maybe the best regarded games of this generation.

Pikmin is a great challenge even today and doesnt show a single sign of it's age.

Super Mario Sunshine is surprisingly hard. I've picked it up probably a dozen times and never finished it.

Even some of the afterthought franchise games are pretty good. My partner and I played through Shrek 2 recently, and it's surprisingly fun, maybe even more so because the plot is absolutely unhinged.

Loved both Sunshine and Eternal Darkness.

Another cool game was XIII. Entirely cel shaded and based on a Belgian comic book. Sort of like Jason Bourne in story, unique style of gameplay with kill cams.

In no particular order for me:

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

Mario Kart: Double Dash

Mario Party 6

Metroid Prime 2

Star Wars Rogue Squadron III (I know mostly everyone prefers II. I like III since it has a co-op version of II included)

Smash Bros. Melee

And while I can’t say that it’s a favorite of mine yet (only played maybe 20 minutes or so): as an honorable mention I’m including Mario Superstar Baseball

Been a while since this community had some activity

Agreed. I’ve been thinking about posting my about my collection here but I didn’t want to just spam what I had and life has also been well, life. Good post though OP. May help encourage more activity here

Super Mario Sunshine was absolutely awesome fun, but Pikmin is the winner for me. I just love how cute they are and the constant marching sounds they make, absolutely adorable. I think Super Smash Bros Melee was the best multiplayer fun on the GameCube and really did lead to some screaming among my peers.

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem was an amazing game and I haven't played much like it

I keep hearing this and thinking I should play it. Maybe I should actually get to it this time.

[–] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 3 points 18 hours ago

Oh, absolutely do. It's got an amazingly creepy vibe, and if you beat the game under NG++, you unlock a secret 4th playthrough and I remember really enjoying it. Haven't had a chance to play through it again in a good while

Yep, great game with lots of interesting things in it. Pay off the problem that we did not see more games like it is that they patented the sanity system for example

I was obsessed when we got Animal Crossing for a long time. Luigis Mansion. Super Mario Sunshine. Zelda Wind Waker

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That's my favorite Animal Crossing! I love that they are so rude!

What I also still like about the old one is you could always get chores from the villagers. In all the new ones you run out of tasks to do so quickly

Oh man, i was just talking about that with a friend. I didn't get very far in new horizon despite snagging the acnh switch and it makes me sad

Loved Sunshine and Zeldas, but I'm surprised there are no mention of Metroid Prime (and 2). Liked Resident Evil 4 and MGS TTS. There was also this really weird game called Killer7 that consumed my life until I finished it, though that was the PC port.

Dragonball Z Budokai

I’m a big Mario Kart fan, but maybe the most impressive game to me was The Simpsons: Hit & Run. A loving ~~ripoff~~ homage to Grand Theft Auto, you drive around different parts of Springfield as various characters from The Simpsons, eventually discovering and stopping a sinister threat to the town. I wish there was a multiplayer mode; the driving was a lot of fun. It’s kind of crazy there’s been no sequel and no remaster!

It’s been years since I played it; maybe after we move I need to get the Game Cube hooked back up and play it again.

Luigi’s Mansion was my favorite. And Wave Race!
