I want to switch my lawn to clover but idk much about it

[–] Arcanepotato@crazypeople.online 2 points 9 hours ago

Just give it a go!

We're doing it very lazily, just throwing down clover on top of the grass, maybe scratching it up a little with a rake. We do nothing to care for the grass, so hopefully one day it will die off and the clover will take over. The clover is slowly becoming more of the lawn over the last few years.

its when you kinda half ass it and make a bunch of bumble bees very happy by doing so, unfortunately america hates bees and biodiversity so they outlawed clover lawns in nearly every hoa despite it being the 1950s ideal lawn and requires basically no water or fertilizer to look great

Outdoor carpet. Even down to vacuuming.

My lawn is a giant plastic Texas shaped American flag just like my neighbors.

Our HOA mandates it and it is part of the reason I bought my house.

If they're in the south could be great option if they don't want pure dirt. Think of the water savings

I think it was originally that FEEL when vs my FACE when

[–] cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca 1 points 15 hours ago

Or is it Their Face When?

Leashed my furbaby at an establishment in the last few months to let them stretch their legs. This multilication business absolutely did this!

I get the point but I'm debating it in parts of the yard. Dogs running hard to get anything to stay when it rains 😭.

Pea gravel or clover are better for the dogs and the environment. Pea gravel would require some form of brick bordering which can be annoying but it would at least hold up to dogs and drain water. Clover is way tougher than grass. Can also just mulch or leave it as dirt lol.

It's not so much the plant being put down as the way the tip soil handles water drainage.

But yeah I need to start with gravel. Got clover going in rest of it just certain patches in drainage areas that keep failing or falling out once established.

Or I need to dig super deep and replace a lot of soil 😭

You can mulch/compost grass clippings and leaves. It takes a while and has to be regularly turned, but it's doable. Solar Punk instances have plenty of usable information, if you're interested.
