Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

I was hoping we wouldn't have to deal with another summer of this bullshit.

What's the best response to this? Put up flags of other countries alongside? Use their move against them and see if they take yours down?

I'm wary of taking them down because 1) you get assaulted and used for content and 2) I feel they're looking for a provocation and an excuse to dog whistle "I'm being censored and can't even be proud of my country anymore". But then maybe you should just take them down anyway because you can't win either way.

Put up Welsh, Scottish, and Northern Irish flags?

They're not "foreign" and yet, they are. They may just melt on the spot through inability to comprehend whether they're for or against it.

Or make flags for increasingly specific locations? Flag of Britain, flag of England, flag of county, flag of city, flag of burgh, flag of street, flag of lamp post, flag of flag.

Take them down when they are done poorly. Flags shouldn't be flown half way up a lamp post, these retards are a fucking disgrace. Use a proper flag pole if you want to fly a flag, and get a proper flag too, not this temu polyester half mast lampost shit.

I'm glad I'm not the only one there. I mean if you're going to be a melt at least do it properly, these half mast flags are just half arsing it

They've put them up in my hometown and I swear to god every single one of them is upside down. Some patriots.

They will never do it properly because somehow they have managed to make hanging flags on lamp posts their whole thing.

All our official council funded ones are attached to lampposts at 90 degrees, sideways, looks sheite.

I mean our flag is just a flag, how it's flown is largely irrelevant.

I can't decide if you're incredibly naive, or just being deliberately dense.

I'd be interested in trying putting EU and LGBTQ flags under each one.

Maybe a Ukraine or Palestine flag, to show the traditional British support of "common decency" and "helping defend those in need" etc - especially if they've been putting up the "red-cross on a white background" flag of St Georgios of Palestine, Patron Saint of Ukraine (also used as the flag of England).

If they all stay up, then maybe these people are actually proud of Britain, like they claim?

I’d be interested in trying putting EU and LGBTQ flags under each one.

As a reminder, the "EU flag" is actually the flag of the Council of Europe which we're still members of, so not a "foreign" flag at all. I wouldn't personally put up flags since I don't think that's the thing to do, dare I say it not the British thing to do, but it could confuse them if done.

Draw a smiling penis on them.

I'm totally serious - it's the only thing which undermines them and communicates on the same level as them.

Don't do all of them at once or it will look like a concerted campaign or one person's fit of passion. Just do 1 in 20 or so, and draw each one slightly differently. If they are replaced wait a while before defacing the new ones.

Put up a Ukraine flag next to the them, that really annoys them.

Put up weird unrecognized micronation flags like sealand and the conch republic.

Or the earthican flag
