I've had no interest in Mouse PI since it just looked like yet another retro boomer shooter but with a 30's animation/Steamboat Willie going public domain gimmick except it doesn't really even commit it to that look the same way Cuphead did. I was just watching Civvie's video about it and was flabbergasted by fucking awful the writing was

I assumed it was just some noir parody with gangster mice but the game's story is just all over the fucking place. There's a nazi party who've taken over the police force who are going around rounding up the shrews who are being drained of their ink (because it's a cartoon) by some kind of evil wizard who wants to use it to open a portal to hell or something

Did you really need to evoke the holocaust in your stupid cartoon mouse Doom clone where Troy Baker says a trillion bad cheese puns??? You're not making fucking Maus here

Edit: The comments on this video are pretty bad

How many shekels do you guys think IDF pays for game developers to make them include Jews and Nazis and make them the hero character to protect Jews in EVERY single game that's ever made?.. or how big is the punishment for not including """"THEM""""" in the games?

pooh-wtf

Great to see the continuing Nick Fuentesification of the internet elmofire

Edit2:

I did not care for this game. It's got a nice artstyle, and good music. The story is dull, the gameplay is dull, powerups are gimmicky... It really just does a lot of things for the sake of it that adds nothing else to the game. Also, John Brown should not be remembered as a "famous abolitionist", he was a psychotic terrorist.

Weirdo ACAB segment halfway through the video. Police brutality is such a modern day problem?? That's not what the bodycams tend to show.

If you're going to make a rubberhose boomer shooter, why make it about a detective? Why not some cartoon soldier during cartoon WWII? That fits the boomer shooter genre much better.

I assume they didn't want it to be perceived just as Wolfenstein in black and white and with Mickey Mouse. I actually don't think a gangster movie parody is a bad fit for a shooter
