Is there anything you do that helps summer go smoothly or feel happier and calmer?

I still work through my kid's summer, so I try to plan certain outings on the weekends. Tidepools, museums, street fairs, picnics at the park, etc. It helps to have things to look forward to during the week while he's in summer camp.

We keep up on reading every day. We have weekly boardgame or card game nights.

Honestly it doesn't change much from when he's in school. I try to keep it consistent, including bed times, so that the transition into school isn't more difficult.

I will be making a schedule. If something doesn’t get done, that’s fine. My goal is to keep a rhythm and keep things moving. I’m not a big planner or schedule follower, so this is a departure for me. If something doesn’t get done in the allotted tome, we’ll move on. And potentially adjust the schedule to what is irl

To start, I want to make the morning routine match what we’re already doing. Then I think i want each day to include some play time, some chore time, and something educational. I want something that will work without a ton of planning tome weekly. So I’ll propose make a list of potential activities that i can refer back to.

It's difficult, we are putting our older daughter into a summer camp which the school organizes, it is at her school so she is not really looking forward to it. Even worse we planned to go on a really cool vacation ta Hawai which she really looked forward to, but because of circumstances we had to cancel it because it got to expensive. So after her summer camp we plan a week what is called "glamping" here in Korea.

I'm so sorry you had to cancel your trip! What a bummer!

I bet the glamping week will be a ton of fun though :)
