Witcher 3. So good. So hard to finish.

Almost every game I have played in the past few years. Between personal life and a shit attention span it's harder to finish games I enjoy before jumping to the next one.

RDR2. I like every game design philosophy this game stands for. I love how slower-paced and contemplative, how tactile with everything it is. I just can't summon the excitement to go through the story.

Witcher 3. Cyberpunk. Shadow of War. Horizon zero dawn. Ghost of Tsushima. Red dead redemption 2. God of war. Ratchet and Clank. Control. Returnal. Fire Emblem Engage, and Three Houses. Hollow knight. Xenoblade Chronicles 1, 2 and 3. Demons souls remake. Monster Hunter Rise. Outer Wilds. Death Stranding. Prey. FF7 remake. Half life Alyx. And many many many more.

I've played through most of them and tried replaying them multiple times but always get bored before the end.

The only reason I haven't purchased ff16 is because I know I won't finish it. That and it looks like a devil may cry clone so I'll wait for it to be on sale.

I have a major "never finish good games" problem. It's probably a shorter list to name games I have finished.

So many. Skyrim among them. In the same vein, I've never finished Oblivion or Fallout: New Vegas, either, despite massive hour counts in all of the above and owning them across multiple systems. I think I have some kind of disorder that if I really like a game, I can't force myself to finish it, because that'd mean it's over. As a result of that, I have hundreds of games that are proably about 3/4s complete. I don't get it.

Bravely Default, Xenogears, Final Fantasy 5, Final Fantasy 9, Final Fantasy 10, Final Fantasy 11, Final Fantasy 12, Zelda ALTTP, Zelda MM, Harvest Moon A Wonderful Life, Xenoblade 1, Xenoblade 3...

I set a rule with myself. I'll play games while I'm having fun and then stop when there's something else. I don't really care to beat games, I'll play them to enjoy them! 😊

Homeworld 1. Childhood favourite space rts but wasn't good enough to finish it. Since progress and troops carry between levels, a screw-up early can really hurt down the line. The narration, the sound design, it was so compelling. I have the remaster, but always want to start a fresh run and try it all again. Never made it to the end without losing steam.

Cities Skylines was that for me for 8 years. Not that theres an end credits, but I never played long enough to get to a max level city. I bought every DLC for it even, and never played more than one session before I put the game away, and started a new city next time.

Up until a few months ago. Just as they released the last DLC for this game I turned obsessed with it. Been through two full level cities now, and begun optimizing the later city to handle 100K population. Im at 80K now, and got two roads into the city that clogs up at anything, that I need to find a fix for if I wanna grow further.

Rimworld

... most of them, embarrassingly. I buy games when they're on steep sale, but rarely actually gst to the end of them (Hollow Knight was the last one I completed, as I recall).

Felt like a spiritual successor to fallout: new vegas, loved the story. I've puttens of hours into it over multiple run throughs, I just can't seem to stick with it to the end. Worst part is I have no idea how close I've got. Was I an hour away from beating it? 10 hours? I think I'll go download it again honestly

Tons. Sometimes I don't get bored of the game, per se, just the genre, and start playing something totally different.

Persona 5 for me, its one of those games where if you put it down for more than a few weeks its hard to jump back in because of all the characters and systems you gotta remember.

I always make it deep in. Lots of side quest and hunting stuff too. But right around when you leave the major city in the southeast I just lose interest for reasons I can't quite figure out.

Divinity Original Sin, the first one. Always loses me somewhere in the middle and then it has been too long to come back.

Final Fantasy 7 on the PS is a game i love but i never finished. Kinda just fell off for me when I couldnt beat the weapons.

Death Stranding started playing it twice, played throught almost the whole story but never finished it.

Right now, the big one weighing on my mind is Satisfactory. I've gotten to the point that it's more likely that they finish developing the game than that I finish developing nuclear power in it -_-;

Lots of open world games, most of them are well received games but I find it hard to finish them.

Fallout 4, Elden Ring (I got around 3 fights left), Borderlands 3, Dying Light, Dead Island

honestly most single player games. While I enjoy the games, I much prefer to play multiplayer games or games that let me unwind better.

Quite a lot I'd say. I often find that though I enjoy a game, it outstays its welcome and loses steam towards the end so I stop playing. I'd rather walk away still enjoying a game than end up pushing through to finish and ruin the fun.

Funnily enough I managed to sit down and finish Skyrim not too long ago, DLC included. What I have been struggling with is The Witcher 3. (Which a friend gifted me back in 2019)

In a lot of games i feel the need to do all the side content and never manage to finish the game proper before I end up really burnt out and bored.

It's pretty much like being a completionist but not enjoying it at all lol

Skyrim ... Yes I played over 200 hours but never finished the main quest. I always start a new game.

Kingdom Come Deliverance. I love the game, but when ever I start playing I end up wandering around the forests and exploring the game world. Though I think I'm most of the way through the main story.

Darkest Dungeon, in my case. Love the vibe, love the gameplay, realise that I'll be doing basically the same thing for the next 60 hours if I want to beat it, lose interest.

This post making me think of all the games I should finish or at least put some playtime into.

Lots of recent games I almost completed but haven't cause new stuff keeps coming out! Keep in mind I have like completed their story to about 80-90% just never finished lol.

Dying light 2, star wars Jedi survivor, Hogwarts legacy, tears of the kingdom

Most of them I've only finished a handful of games, most I get to like 75% through the game then decide that's enough

Hollow Knight...need to put in the time to finish it at some point still.

Shameful to say but The Witcher 3 WH. I love the game and the plot but somehow I always get overwhelmed and drop off.

The Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

I got to the point where I nearly finished it, but I just stopped playing. I was enjoying it so I figured that I'd wait a few years till the whole of it was out to finish the first part. That way I can go through it and not have to be stuck listening to news and rumors as to when the story would finish.

An absolute ton. I have a bad habit of saving just outside the final boss/dungeon/encounter/sequence and never going back to finish it.

Most recently, I've done this with Yakuza: Like a Dragon. I think it's still installed because "I swear I'll load it and finish it soon". But, as examples, I did this as a child with Breath of Fire 2 and as a teenager with FF7.

I think there's something about realizing I have to break off of the main story to do all the side content I want to experience that leads to a kind of weird play paralysis. Once I'm that deep into the game, the magic of the world has worn off and I just want to see how the story ends, but I feel like if I don't step back and do everything else there is to do, I'm "missing out". So I procrastinate, just a little bit, and then something new and shiny catches my eye.
