This is what people mean when they say AI is the end of the world. Its the end of the conscious world, the end of the knowledgeable world, the end of any hope that anybody but a few white men would ever hold any power in the world.

Spot on. And pointing at AGI or the singularity as the boogeyman instead of the handful of powerful men trying to capture a tool of authoritarian control is really obnoxious to see. People like Sam Altman and Elon Musk just want control of information flow. Among others.

It would be if it worked well enough to actually be widely adopted... as it is, it will still be the end of the world as it will destroy the world's economy when the bubble pops (or the actual physical world if the bubble takes too long to pop)

That was a sad read. Every single thing has come true and Google could have been on the forefront of stopping it and creating an AI that was good. Nope. They just lite fire to the canaries. In reality Google is and all the other AIs are just a symptom of the real problem. Corprate greed enshitifying every aspect of our lives.

There was a time when Google was Willy Wonka's chocolate factory of tech, founders got rich and pissed off in 2015, wall st started to corrupt them in 2009ish.

Wall St institute investors ruin everything.

Because that suggests solutions, and the loudest voices quoting these problems do not want them solved. They want the last six years to unhappen.
