General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s government is not really a Labour government; it came to power on the back of a secret project to wrest control of the Labour Party back from an ascendant left wing. This secret project was resourced by illegally undeclared money from wealthy donors, funneled through a seemingly anodyne think tank called Labour Together. It involved covertly seeding promiscuous claims of antisemitism against political opponents, attempting to silence independent media that threatened to expose its project, and—ultimately—developing the dishonest leadership pitch that allowed Keir Starmer to trick a left-wing membership to elect him leader.

Shabana Mahmood, the Home Secretary responsible for the ban on Piker and Uygur, was one of a ‘brave band’ of eight MPs that guided the Labour Together project during the leadership of Starmer’s left-wing predecessor, Jeremy Corbyn.

The MP who has most loudly demanded Piker and Uygur’s banning is David Taylor. Elected in 2024 as part of the Labour’s landslide, Taylor was closely vetted and approved by a Labour Party bureaucracy reporting directly to Labour Together’s long-time former managing director. And the single largest donor to Taylor’s election campaign was Labour Together.

These past few months I feel really happy that I've stopped interacting (won't call it a debate for obvious reasons) with conspiracy nutjobs...

Israel now not even attempting to hide their overt influence of other countries has made it practically impossible to even talk to these types, because to them, this is undeniable proof that their whole antisemitic "the Jews control the world" theory is indeed true. And I'm just too tired of all the shit to even entertain the idea of talking to a person who's now dead convinced about being right and won't even consider thinking outside their little made up world.

At the same time I am so fucking angry at shit like this. Trump is openly pushing an illegal war because Israel had compromat on him, a war that is dumping the world into a recession, potentially even an economic crash that will replicate the great depression worldwide, meanwhile the rich get richer, and everything is turning to shit. Which in turn just further feeds the far right populists who offer seemingly simple solutions that will just further ruin everything. And then governments wonder why people won't have kids...

Indeed that is what makes this ouroboros of violence so cynical.

Hasan is such an easy target for the right wing. All they need to do is find snark communities that make out of context clips. Pretty easy to point to the bad faith actions and say See? That’s the bad guy!

He clearly is not given how the smears keep backfiring on them.

I think that's called a honeypot. Easy to target, easy to take down those that target him.
