A place for for news, discussion, memes, and links criticizing capitalism and advancing viewpoints that challenge liberal capitalist ideology. That means any support for any liberal capitalist political party (like the Democrats) is strictly prohibited.

You're absolutely right to ask this. I took a look at wikiquote (which wouldn't still prove anything by itself) and that quote isn't there: https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Smedley_Butler

However, it fits his anti-war and anti-capitalist sentiments and his often angry tone quite well, so it might be legit.

And just so we're clear: General Butler was NOT a conspirator in the plot. He was a supporter of FDR, and an outspoken critic of capitalists, and still the capitalists thought they could use him as a patsy to launch a coup against FDR. 🤦‍♂️

Butler exposed and testified against them.

He also led the 'Bonus Army' that marched on Washington to demand the promised pay due WWI veterans before Hoover sent the Army Cavalry to destroy their camps.

Smedley Butler was a real one.
