Yeah this is not an understanding of classic rock, that classic rock is a style of rock music, not necessarily a vintage or an age.

Sex pistols will always be punk rock.

Well not to be that guy but they never were, they were started by a designer clothes store owner to sell his clothes, they were sellouts before they even began.

They imitated punk pretty well though.

But your point stands and I do agree, just a bad example lol.
