I thought i was reading fuckcars

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 1 points 7 hours ago

I played in the streets with all the other kids from around the block area when cars where a thing.

[–] jobbies@lemmy.zip 1 points 10 hours ago

Wow he looks great considering he was born in the time before cars.

[–] PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca 11 points 18 hours ago

It's weird that techno drug dealers are in charge of governments and economies and are trying to force everyone to do their drugs.

[–] mecen@lemmy.ca 16 points 21 hours ago

Shovel seller tells everyone they need shovels, what a surprise.

[–] brsrklf@jlai.lu 23 points 1 day ago

For this analogy to work, you aren't making kids not play on the street anymore. You're purposefully running over kids playing in the street and telling them they should get cars so they can start rampages of their own.

Translation: Everybody should give me money. Society has no choice but to give me money ...

[–] dandi8@fedia.io 16 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Why are we sharing this? Why is this important? CEO of Oreo says you should eat 10 oreos a day to stay healthy. Shocker.

[–] starelfsc2@sh.itjust.works 6 points 23 hours ago

Reminds me of this

[–] Insekticus@aussie.zone 5 points 23 hours ago

Because it's to remind us of the world they took from us.

Can't play in the streets? Yeah, the millionaires and billionaires bought up all the land, turned it into a freeway, strip mall, and a parking lot in one, and said it was your fault for remembering it with too rose-coloured glasses.

Is he suggesting that playing in the streets was something he used to do before the advent of cars? Like there were all that roads everywhere with kids just playing on them willy nilly, until one day Henry Ford met General Motor and said, "You know what we oughta do with all these fuckin' roads?" And ever since then, kids haven't been able to play on them any more?

Is that the version of history we're pedaling here?

[–] NottaLottaOcelot@lemmy.ca 26 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The other day, a group of kids were playing road hockey in my neighbourhood. Rather than run them over, I waited for them to pull their nets aside, then drove on. Whether he believes it or not, we can still allow kids to play in the streets. It’s probably safer for them than spending their time with AI search bots.

[–] qprimed@lemmy.ml 13 points 1 day ago

spent years of my childhood playing two-hand touch (american) football on streets with friends - the exercise and bonding benefits where invaluable. huang is part of whats wrong with our world.

[–] Hadriscus@jlai.lu 19 points 1 day ago

Even if it were historically accurate, look at the absolutely depressing statement that makes it : I had to give up playing in the street to make way for cars, that's just the way it is.

[–] ne0n@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

I don’t know if using pedalling vs peddling was intentional, but it was funny

[–] hirihit640@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago (2 children)

idk maybe there were roads for carriages before cars were invented? I'm not old enough to know

[–] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 day ago

Roads have been around for thousands of years, but not really the type of roads he's talking about. Especially since he doesn't remember them before cars anyway.

[–] Crozekiel@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 day ago

Neither is fucking Jensen Huang, the car was invented over 100 years ago for fuck's sake.

[–] Nytefyre@piefed.social 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He needs to play in the streets again, for old times sake.

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 4 points 23 hours ago

Highways are like big streets, and twice as fun.

[–] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 67 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Jensen, buddy, go fuck yourself.

[–] imperial_bouncer@lemmy.world 0 points 1 day ago

They AI sloppified the funny jacket guy :(

[–] angelmountain@lemy.nl 11 points 1 day ago

Make streets playable again

[–] dan69@lemmy.world 3 points 20 hours ago

Damn bro, I used to play on the basketball court or the play ground.. I’d usually take a street that I had to cross to get to it. But damn. It was rough being a boomer who “didn’t” have a park..

[–] flamingsjack@lemmy.ml 47 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

And many people realize now car-first urban design is a bad idea. There are pushbacks to make streets pedestrian first

[–] DrakeAlbrecht@lemmy.world 47 points 1 day ago

Stanley Motor Carriage Company's Francis E. Stanley says everybody should drive Stanley Steamers. Society has no choice but to change.

[–] Mika@piefed.ca 30 points 1 day ago (4 children)

People definitely still do play in the streets. Maybe not in America though.

[–] lonefighter@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 day ago

I grew up in America in the 90s. We always played in the streets. When a car came you yelled "car!" and everyone skedaddled to the side of the road until it passed. I still see kids playing in the streets occasionally, depending on the neighborhood.

[–] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

KIds and Adults play in the streets. "game off, game on", are still in use. People will have a hoop set up at the curb. Maybe that's just 'small town', but I'm talking neighborhood small streets, not major thoroughfares.

[–] P1nkman@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

But iy is fun playing Frogger on the highway. It's also a game you can play alone.

[–] Atelopus-zeteki@fedia.io 3 points 1 day ago

You do You, my friend.

[–] Not_mikey@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Not in poor america*

Kids play in the streets all the time in cul de sacs in affluent suburbs with low car traffic

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 1 points 21 hours ago

In poor America there aren't enough cars to make it unsafe. You can bike up and down the road all day.

[–] KingKong33@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 day ago

No, they definitely still do it there too.

[–] thatsnothowyoudoit@lemmy.ca 18 points 1 day ago

Society is always changing. We have a choice in how we change it.

These technocrats are so entitled they don’t GAF about consent. “If you’d only relax you’d see how great it feels.”

[–] stylusmobilus@aussie.zone 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Up yours Jensen you ballbag

[–] Lucius_Sweet@lemmy.world 2 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

You just reminded me of a friend who had a B.A. in psychology, an LLB (law degree) and wanted to either become attorney general or do an agricultural science (AgS) degree in order to have either BALLBAG or BALLBAgS as his qualifications after his name.

[–] stylusmobilus@aussie.zone 1 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

Hahahaha that’s funny shit

That is awesome. If you still know this friend, please, buy them a coffee on my behalf

[–] Eternal192@anarchist.nexus 15 points 1 day ago

There are more and more people saying you should go fuck yourself so i guess neither will get what they want.

[–] XLE@piefed.social 14 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Shovel company CEO: Everybody should mine for gold

[–] lemmyng@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Please, Jensen, demonstrate how you used to play on the streets. In fact, do it at night or in the fog. Anywhere with low visibility for drivers.

[–] bender223@lemmy.today 8 points 1 day ago

yeah jensen, don't be pussy, keeping playing in the streets

[–] arin@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

With that logic we should replace streets next to CEOs and politicians with data centers!

Riiiiiiiiight

[–] very_well_lost@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago
