I feel like the Steam Machines are going to be even worse. I'll be very surprised if the price isn't completely bonkers, this seems like pretty much the worst possible time to be launching new hardware. They'll probably all sell out anyway though.

Holy shit, backlogged into 2027? I really wanted to buy two on release day, but by the time I managed to get through the chaos I ended up with only one, and as a result I can’t even queue again. Not complaining and I feel very lucky to have one, but it’s insane that there’s no way to get a second one for a long time

I put in a reservation 23 minutes after they opened and I am within the first window, for whoever that helps. Seems like people who reserved the day after or later are in the second window.

Reserved that night at 9PM EDT (was on a plane) and I'm before December 2026. Sounds like the first day was just a lot of reservations.

I reserved around 12 minutes in and, after saying "September 2026" for a few hours, mine popped up last night. Glad I checked again as I sort of assumed the order would be given in September. So fair warning to others.

Weird that this is in my New Comments feed and yet there are currently no comments.

I will say for me personally, although I 100% expected technical glitches and outages during the initial launch, I was still very disappointed that it happened again and so predictably. And obviously I was disappointed to leave empty handed.

Well, I'm pretty dismayed that I'll have to wait for so many (more) months. At least they (finally) gave a timeline though, sheesh.

What a trainwreck. I really hope the other releases go smoother, but my expectations are not very high at this point.

They did some serious research to get the numbers right and have been close in previous hardware releases.

I think the one thing they didn't count on was the fact that other controllers suck ass so everyone wants this good one.

Damn. Here I was, totally forgot the controller launched when it did only to remember halfway through the day and succesfully order one. Only issue I had was that the payment processor was busy, so I had to try a few times.
