There should be no debate! It should be universally agreed that that cop fucked up! What is wrong with your head that you think opening fire in the vicinity of A BABY OVER A CASE OF ALLEGED SHOPLIFTING was somehow justified?

Do you think defending this makes the police look good? What would make the police look good would be universal condemnation of this act! Just fucking accept that sometimes people in power fuck up!

People are going well the mother shouldn't have taken the baby with her to commit crimes. Fuck you, she had a receipt, she didn't even commit a crime! What you mean to say is, she should have known better than to go shopping while black! They go well why did she flee? Well if I were black in America I'd be afraid to pull over for those trigger happy lunatic cops too! Even if she had been stealing, since when does the law execute the children of shoplifters?

Shouldn't this whole thing make you stop and think maybe police should stop dealing with minor crimes by opening fire? I live in Canada and have dealt with lots of police officers and I've never EVER seen them pull a gun. I'm pretty sure they save it for when it's absolutely necessary. In England, cops don't even usually carry guns! Why don't you Americans stop and think maybe lethal force isn't an appropriate way for cops to deal with minor issues? Maybe there are other options? If they were that concerned about stolen diapers, photograph her luscence plate and go get her later! But they weren't concerned about stolen diapers, were they? They were concerned she committed the crime of being black in public!

You got it right, she committed the crime of being black in public. There should be no debate here, but there are people who will always defend cops. There are people who will believe black people are always guilty. This is a direct result of a society that actively rejected the idea that black lives matter.

Part of what bothers me is that they think it's justified to execute people without trial. Even if this woman were a criminal (which she wasn't) she still wouldn't have been guilty of anything warranting the death penalty. Disobeying cops shouldn't warrant instant death penalty. Shoplifting shouldn't warrant instant death penalty. Even if she tried to run them over, which I doubt, it wouldn't warrant instant death penalty, and it certainly wouldn't warrant instant death penalty FOR HER BABY

There is no justification for lethal force for stealing diapers. The lost profit is a rounding error for the store. Not even that, their prices actually account for some shoplifting. Prices don’t go down when they catch a shoplifter, they’re just double-dipping.

Black shouldn’t matter; it’s a sorry state of affairs that this is a problem in {current_year}.

Facebook and other mainstream social media is where all the most vile hatred spreads, so yeah. Water is wet.

Unfortunately, that's also where most "normal" people are online. Sucks that it's become so commonplace for such obviously inhumane viewpoints to be spouted in public forums, it really makes it hard to have trust in other people

Yeah, agreed. Just seemed like this rant is preaching to the choir here.
