I wonder how diverse the sample size was on this. However it's heartening to see so many average people waking up to the oppression of capitalism unfolding before them. I feel like just a few years ago the average person was still a staunch believer that capitalism works and a free market existed. But now there's more comment about how we are just at the whim of rich people's games.

It's a small win but the class consciousness is growing. Maybe this is the fight that will finally unite the US. The enemy of my enemy is my friend and I gladly welcome anyone to the fight against the bourgeoisie.

Billionaires are the terrorists of the 21st century.

That's the whole plan, to steal the retirement funds and this going to do it. They have reason to be worried. It's exactly what is happening.

Capitalism is a failure. How much more does wealth need to be concentrated for the majority to realize?

Capitalism is functioning exactly how it is intended to. The entire concept is based off the exploitation of the majority for the profit of the rich.

RFK is already talking about cutting current SS by 25%. That is people already on it going to be on it. Congress has kicked the can down the road for 50 years and all the while putting IOUs in the SS bank to cover whatever bullshit and now they want to cut you off. I want all these people to fucking die in a vat of molten cow shit so we can use them as fertilizer.

free professional advice: SSA (Social Security Administration) to refer to the organization, SSI (Social Security Income) to refer to standard social security payments, SSDI (Social Security Disability Income) to refer to those ones.

yeah, we had to jump through some acronym hoops, but we don't use SS. USSS to refer to United States Secret Service. No SS to refer to the Secret Service (it predates the nazi SS)

If people referred to it as "SS" more maybe they would end up supporting it.

I legit thought they were referencing ICE

Meanwhile 250B unfunded to start a war in Iran from which fuckall was gained, and much other than money was lost, is unquestionably funded.

Just like afghanistan. iraq.

[–] rayyy@piefed.social 10 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

The Iran war may cost upwards of 1.3 trillion dollars - if you count the reparations - for the demented megalomaniac's little "excursion". Seems we have plenty of money for those things though.

The US could easily afford single payer. It might even save the government money because the current situation isn't very cheap either with multiple different government options that all require eligibility checks, etc. The issue is how many people profit from the current situation. Insurance, hospitals... Hell, do you think doctors want a pay cut?

[–] realitista@lemmus.org 4 points 1 day ago

Don't forget to take their money to make SS solvent. Just Elon could add decades to it.

Yeah, I bet they're feeling a bit uneasy when something like 600B fell off their market cap.
