"Influencer" is the first job I've heard threatened by AI where I think I'm on the side of AI. Reviewers serve a valuable purpose. Influencers are parasites who prey on the people without critical thinking skills.

[–] MangoCats@feddit.it 4 points 7 hours ago

It's not as if being "AI" makes it any less reliable as a source of actual experience/opinions.

[–] xthexder@l.sw0.com 6 points 9 hours ago

The term "influencer" is about as descriptive as "AI" now, it's way too big a category to really say anything useful about.

Personally I would consider independent product reviewers as "influencers", and companies being able to fake that by paying a real person via strict sponsorship terms or using AI are both a huge problem.

[–] acosmichippo@lemmy.world 5 points 11 hours ago

but at least they are people? Now corporations are just doing it themselves and "influencers" are now out there on the job market like the rest of us. So I am still very much "fuck AI taking our jobs" in this scenario.

There’s the distinction I needed to hear. Agree.

I don't know about you folks but I am just tired of this whole business, I do not really need any new products for anything anymore, most of the food I buy are raw ingredients to prepare meals and snacks myself because these companies have shown us time and time again they cannot be trusted. I will not watch your ads, I will not buy your products, I will not listen to your bullshit corporate promises because you just keep lying to us about everything, so go fuck yourselves

I feel this comment. I buy raw ingredients because they are cheaper, though.

I just got back from treating myself and my partner to 2 coffees, one sandwich, and a small muffin... $40. Forty. Four with a zero after it...

I just can't any longer. I don't make that kind of money. Every year the cost of living increases are less than inflation, and things like gas, food, and power are skyrocketing.

[–] joeljoelle@piefed.blahaj.zone 4 points 9 hours ago

Isn't that just bonkers? You can barely get a meal anywhere for two people under $50 now, I don't make that kind of money either and never did, that's groceries for half a week at the very least.

Bro what? That's fucked. Was it atleast a good sandwich?

Good for you, but you and me and most of lemmy are not the target group. Millions of gullible braindead consumerists are.

[–] joeljoelle@piefed.blahaj.zone 11 points 15 hours ago

True enough, I am just hopeful that will catch on more and more I suppose, people are capable of doing so much but somehow they've offloaded all the good stuff little by little. I am pro people and I refuse to believe that is not a winning strategy for taking our lives back

[–] Cherry@piefed.social 21 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

I am the same. I don't have a house full of tat, I don't care that my hair is not conditioned to perfection and I am finding the supermarket a real chore, everything is overpriced and over processed.

I am really finding joy in simple stuff...and non 'stuff' consuming hobbies.

[–] joeljoelle@piefed.blahaj.zone 6 points 15 hours ago

Nice :) I'm also a big fan of the new natural lawns people are doing, yes the supermarket is a nightmare now, they have reduced the choices a lot, upped the prices, the quality is not consistent at all, half the times the produce or item I want is out. These are all things they told us would happen under communism lol

Yes that is perfect, and honestly the more worthwhile and rewarding experiences are to be had without stuff; sing to yourself everyday, see what the chipmunks are doing today, read a little, find some new recipes, play a little music. All things that slow the frenzied pace of modern life down a few notches :)

Why do the people generating the content want to be kissed so bad

[–] Cherry@piefed.social 18 points 18 hours ago

It’s religion at this point. Worshipping a make believe skygod and the mascara it tells you to use.

[–] mereo@piefed.ca 12 points 17 hours ago

Sigh. Because people can't think critically, they're easily brainwashed by these companies. After all, YOLO (you only live once). It's materialism at its finest. People are not content with what they have. They always want more to fill the void, but that void cannot be filled with material things.

I'm just ranting about the capitalist world of today.

[–] crunchy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 17 hours ago

Of course. Corporations have shown time and time again how much they're willing to spend to not pay people. Why pay an influencer when you can grow your own for ten times the cost?

[–] unitedwithme@lemmy.today 9 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Any reason to use AI and not pay humans!

[–] roserose56@lemmy.zip 6 points 16 hours ago

Why pay thousands of dollars an influencer when you can pay for AI videos, right? Also I don't see how they can save/win money.
