This is from the letter to Sorsby:

The sole reasons identified in your Petition for seeking entry into the Supplemental Draft are that you have been “declared ineligible” by the NCAA, have “exhausted all of [your] avenues to continue in the NCAA,” and “want to now play in the NFL.” The Petition provides no information regarding the basis for, or timing of, the NCAA’s decision. Public sources, however, indicate that in May 2026 the NCAA issued a determination declaring you permanently ineligible from participation in college athletics, based on a sustained pattern of improper gambling activity during your collegiate career at three different universities.

I know addictions are a powerful thing. I’ve battled food addiction much of my life, and it isn’t fun to deal with.

But compulsively overindulging in food has never threatened the competitive integrity or financial solvency or legal liability of any of my employers.

To a very minor extent, I feel for the kid. But that is very strongly limited by how he has kept making bad decisions compounded by tone deaf decisions compounded by courting public support from obnoxious dickheads.

I rather doubt that he, or anyone in his circle, legitimately has his best long term interests in mind.

There is no human right, civil right, or constitutional right to play professional or high level “amateur” sports.

Honestly? I think the kid would be better off driving a forklift in a warehouse, enlisting in the Navy, or going through a local union to get an apprenticeship as a tradie. Get him as far away from the enabler-filled bubble he’s clearly been living in the last however many years. Let him only be remembered as a massive cautionary tale.

And, shoot, if the blowback from this turns into much more stringent regulations on sports gambling, including kalshi-style prediction markets, and the advertising thereof, maybe that’s not a bad thing?

I do agree, but I also can't ignore that the NFL's moral stand here doesn't hold water. May as well be "brought to you by DraftKings" :)
