My town has a similar ordinance.

I've got 14 hens and a rooster.

Our president rapes children. You wanna hassle me over a fucking rooster? Here's a dozen eggs, find someone who gives a shit.

The point of the ordinance is for Karen's to fuck with their immigrant neighbors. It's not enforced on white Americans like me. I'm fine. Karen can suck my cock.

That's 100% it, too. I know it comes across crass but that's the reality. Cops aren't going around auditing chickens or even listening for rooster crows. The only way this is enforced is by neighbor complaint, and only asshole neighbors would complain about shit like this, and IME most assholes are racist.

I remember looking at a house in Bristow, OK, and learning about the chicken ordinance which was much like the OP.

We heard at least two different roosters while we were looking at the house.

I think the rooster clause will be brought up if one of your neighbours makes a noise complaint.

Like many rules, you'll be fine unless someone takes offence.

Canadian here: Do I have to have been to Iowa to get this? Seems like a pretty reasonable bilaw to me.

I know here in Halifax you can have pet chickens.

Seems like a council that is trying to say yes but also make sure the other side feels heard and protected.. unless this is a town of 10 in the middle of no where it seems reasonable to me... I wish this was my council at times

Seems pretty reasonable

Those are perfectly reasonable urban/suburban rules for keeping chickens.

I like roosters though so i’d allow them but i can see why other people don’t like them.

My major objection is the $25 fee.
