De-anonymisation for everyone is the point of it. The social media ban is the marketing spin and the harm is a bonus.
Nah, “protecting the children” from “trans ideology” and anti-Zionism is the point, de-anonymization is a bonus. The driving motivators here are transphobia (“No one will be trans if they can’t learn that trans people exist!”) and Zionism (“The kids are only anti-Israel because of what they see online!”)
If you’re going to ban social media for anyone it should start at retirement age. Social media has done far more damage to grandparents on Facebook than teenagers. My nephew doesn’t send me AI slop about antifa that he doesn’t realize is fake, that was my grandma (looking up at us now 🙏)
My inner accelarationist wants to believe all this online crackdown will actually reverse some of the atomization of society but I know the truth is most people will just drink the kool-aid.
