What a great opportunity for queer anarchists to demonstrate why the theater kids say, "The show must go on."

Fun fact: Pride in Germany (and I think other parts of Europe) is often called CSD - Christopher Street Day - in honour of Stonewall.

We needed to do this in 1969, 2014, and we need to do it now:

This man thinks he can put the fear of God in them.

She just put the fear of a goddess in him.

"God is love. You should fear him."

Doesn't sound that lovely to me. Maybe they should fuck off.

But what symbol of Mama Tits is as iconic as the brick? Asking to add to my keyring

I helped set up a couple booths yesterday and the NAACP booth runner had a bunch of small clay bricks that were painted with various pride flags.

An older guy from one of the like 6 church booths kept coming over and talking about how young people don't know enough about history and how we should come to their church services because they "accept all kinds of homos...exuals" (as in he stopped at homos and then realized where he was and tried to make it better or something)

He asked what the bricks were, if they were erasers, and what the point of them was. After explaining what they were, he just made a face and went back to his booth.

I didn't stay at the booth for too long since I needed to help some other people, but apparently it was mostly older people that didn't know what the bricks were, and tons of them got weird about how we're "celebrating a riot against law enforcement" and honestly that was the wildest thing I heard yesterday.

Also there was a cop that was wandering around and it was like one of those videos of the ocean where there's a shark swimming through a school of fish and the fish were just giving it a wide berth. Every so often if hear someone yell "Cops don't belong at pride"

But I helped the local trans support group raise over $200, and helped a friend raise $176 for their top surgery. Overall it was a great day.

I’m glad people like you exist.

Edit: if your friend is still raising money for top surgery, I’d love to help if there is a way to do so.

I'll shoot them a message and see if they have anything set up for donations!

They're a disabled NB transmasc whose insurance denied them a couple months ago, and they've been selling their art prints to raise money. I think they said something around 20k for the whole thing but with luck we can knock that down with sliding pay scales and financial aid, and make up the difference in the next year or two!

If they have a way to sell prints online, I’d love to buy one.

I'm sure we can figure something out! I think they're still asleep right now, the drag show went until midnight and they went to a bar with a few of the groupsupport group, but they live about 5min away from me and have expressed interest in setting up a web page or even just a Tumblr where people can see their artwork, we just haven't had much time recently to meet and work something out..

Their supernatural fan art sold in about an hour (unsurprisingly lol), and they ended up going around to various artsy booths and trading for things close to the end of pride.

They're a good artist and yet were surprised they sold anything. They're too hard on themselves.

Also commenting so I can check out their art later, if they get something set up!

Commenting so I can check out (and maybe purchase) some art later.
