glp-1 use during pregnancy may increase the risk of major adverse outcomes

Fixed the headline. May not also means may. If they knew they wouldn't be saying maybe

Dieting/diet drugs seems wrong for pregnancy. You are supposed to gain weight.

[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Isn't that just the weight of the baby? You should be eating enough to sustain you amd the baby but gaining weight typically means you're consuming an excess of calories that is being stored on your body.

Naw, you are supposed to gain actual weight up to forty pounds which is considered normal. Most professionals would recommend a three hundred calories increase a day.

Dieting and pregnancy don't really go together.

[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Huh, yeah. According to the APA, even if your BMI would label you as obese, you should be gaining between 11 and 20 lbs.

The more you know. Culturally, it feels rude to even mention weight, so I sure as hell have never asked any of the pregnant ladies in my life.

Nope! It depends on your weight before getting pregnant. The baby has a weight goal as well. So you could stay the same weight the whole time and have a very healthy pregnancy.

How many women don't gain weight?

Just kidding don't answer that, I was being facetious.

Let me repeat. It is NORMAL to gain weight.

Edit: previous studies show only 1 in 3 women gained the proper amount of weight.

So your advice is actually harmful, way to go!

If you are overweight before getting prego.......adding more weight is bad! The baby is a different thing. If you are 500lb and get prego, you will be told to lose weight 100%.

Your source: trust me bro

Oh shit you got me. I guess it is normal for women not to gain weight. JK you are acting like an idiot.

your first link says in the first line:

Yes! A healthy weight gain during pregnancy will help you avoid pregnancy complications such as gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, and cesarean delivery.

you could stay the same, but like, most dont.

I see a lot of people are confused on how pregnancy works.

Every single one is unique. Not every one will gain weight. A lot of women maintain their weight. Working out is very good for pregnant women and help with delivery.

I had a baby. Did you?

I remember what my doctor said. I dont know why youre arguing honestly.

yes its okay to work out if you already worked out before baby. But they only recomend light exersize if you werent already doing it. and Your link actually says its okay to gain weight, again.

also, some super fat people DO lose weight when they get pregnant just cuz, it takes energy to grow the baby

oh and edit here, I see you already downvoted me, but you also lose wieght by nursing post partum. I gained 40 pounds with a winter pregnancy, (yes my dr was concerned, only because she was worried my baby would grow too big), baby was 7pounds and change, and then I immediately lost 40 pounds (or I guess 33) in 6 weeks or so from nursing.
