8 billion of tracked oil removed from the country and we can't even confirm if they got the 500 million funneled through Qatar as repayment.

No real help for the earthquake that struck Venezuela.

Maduro still missing with not even a sham court trial.

The mafia now run the world again and it looks like American Politics.

[–] evenglow@lemmy.world 46 points 5 days ago (2 children)

$100 million in gold was removed so far too.

[–] Krauerking@lemy.lol 27 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Yeah, it sounds like they were just the easiest target to rob first that had anything worth taking.

I guess Venezuelan gold and oil was higher on the list than Red Lobster's endless shrimp.

[–] a_non_monotonic_function@lemmy.world 9 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Don't worry, there's still plenty of time to take over Greenland and free their supply of delicious, endless shrimp.

/s

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Lol, shrimp don't come from green land.

It was a quote by a US republican the other day. Hence the /s.

[–] Krauerking@lemy.lol 4 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (2 children)

You didnt see then? That was a real pitch from Tom Dans, Trump appointee chair of the Arctic Research Commission.

[–] Abyssian@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, I was trying to one up their tarded level by just going with general grasslands instead of Greenland. Should have added /s or something, I guess.

[–] Krauerking@lemy.lol 0 points 4 days ago (1 children)

No, no I see the vision! The problem is you are focusing on the green part.

Shrimp dont come from Greenland, at best they come from GreenWet.

Yeah same, and I think they just didnt realize how dumb our world has gotten.

Can't blame them though. Its to much stupidity to keep up with all of it.

It is really dumb. We jumped the shark in 2016 and everything since then is a poorly scripted reality TV show.

[–] evenglow@lemmy.world 9 points 5 days ago

Maduro offered all this to Trump. He gave Trump the idea and Trump just decided to take it all rather than do a trade agreement that would benefit both countries.

So basically, just regular colonialism, but no one is going to do anything about it this time around.

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 2 points 4 days ago

If the US weakens itself enough with other wars, Venezuelans might be able to break free

Very morbid way to look at it though because it involves a lot of people needlessly dying

[–] thepig@lemmy.zip 14 points 5 days ago (4 children)

Yeah but then you've got Venezuelans saying shit like "we want to be the 51st state" fucking bootlickers, make me ashamed of being Venezuelan

[–] cecilkorik@lemmy.ca 20 points 5 days ago (1 children)

"it may be dangerous to be America's enemy, but to be America's friend is fatal."

[–] thepig@lemmy.zip 14 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Wise words indeed, America has no friend, they think of themselves first, second, third..... And when I say "themselves" is not even their own people, but the oligarchs in charge, a true cleptocracy

[–] Auli@lemmy.ca 5 points 4 days ago

Don't give the people a pass Americans are very selfish and grow up on their BS fairy tale founding and manifest destiny.

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago

I'm sorry. I can't imagine how awful and annoying this experience must be.

Point all those bootlickers who are excited about statehood towards Puerto Rico. Puerto Ricans have been consistently screwed over.

The simple truth (that I'm sure you're already aware of, but others aren't) is that the Republican party doesn't want a change that will make it harder for them to win Congress (also, many of them have nothing but contempt for latinos). And the Democrat party is too timid and disorganized to push through statehood for the likes of Puerto Rico.

It's not helped by the fact that there are many ignorant yokels in deep red states who share that same xenophobic view, and their vote has disproportionate power.

[–] bedwyr@piefed.ca 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Venezuelans would never get statehood in the first place. The country will never accept venezuelans as equals, that is just the truth, nothing good would come from becoming a territory or vassal of the US.

[–] thepig@lemmy.zip 3 points 4 days ago

I know, but this people truly believe this bullshit. Puerto Rico is part of the US and Americans still discriminate against them

[–] Samskara@sh.itjust.works 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I know two Venezuelans. Both of them left because of the Chavez/Maduro government‘s mismanagement of the economy and oppression of the opposition. Neither of them is well off or well connected, so they left the country to make a living.

When Trump started his intervention, both of them said „Trump can take the oil, I don’t care, as long the government finally changes“.

Becoming a US territory like Puerto Rico would improve the lives of most Venezuelans pretty noticeably.

[–] thepig@lemmy.zip 6 points 4 days ago

He WILL take the Oil and the people will still be oppressed. Thats like making a deal with the devil and gaining nothing in return other that having the very brief satisfaction that your oppressor got fucked. I am Venezuelan and I also can see that both things are pretty bad

[–] switcheroo@lemmy.world 36 points 5 days ago

You know exactly where it went. The same place all our tax money is going. And these fucking tariffs (aka fees to further hurt the middle and poor classes).

Right into the pockets of the greedy parasites of the Epstein class. With a little on the side to fund genocide.

[–] YurkshireLad@lemmy.ca 39 points 5 days ago

Look in Trump’s bathroom. You know him and his kids filtered it into their own pockets.

[–] Bubbaonthebeach@lemmy.ca 5 points 4 days ago

Trump made $2B somehow. I'm sure his family and friends made even more.

[–] itisileclerk@lemmy.world 14 points 5 days ago

Surprised the entire army is not helping Venezuela. They took enough oil from them.
