I keep forgetting my old dog is deaf so he can't understand what I'm saying anymore.

I had a talk with my girl about this and she agrees.

On top she demands I set up a go feed me campaign but I told her that didn't exist and it's go fund me. She disagrees and demands snacks.
Get a working breed dog (if you have the time and energy and are willing to commit to keeping them stimulated) and you will have a dog you can speak to that will understand just about everything you say
I have a very smart Podenco, she understands perfectly ... what she doesn't do is care. At all.
What, that dog with a brain the size of a peanut that barks constantly and pisses in the laundry isn't understanding what I'm saying?
It does, it just doesn't care
Yeah true, the whole "loving companionship" really pales in comparison to "can be talked at" lol
My gf talks at me too. Then she turns away when she is done talking. Nice...
Tone often gets the job done.
Gestures work better
Our dog is from Chile, so the main language she understands is Spanish. She understands some English and German words too. She stayed at my place during the recent heatwave and I basically stood next to her bowls multiple times during the day, pointing at her water bowl, repeating 'agua' until she took the hint and drank some water. :D
