Did anyone read the article?

Butler told officials and paramedics that he was working as a DoorDash driver and that the car was in FSD mode before he "passed out" while changing music on the car's touchscreen, according to the affidavit.

Fucking sus. They found searches on how to override FSD in his phone.

This guy overrode FSD, had the accelerator mashed. The fact that the car had FSD was irrelevant to this crash, which is why they charged the driver.

The real problem is selling 400hp cars to the idiot public is idiotic.

the driver is charged but the company... not liable at all? if i use a toaster and it explodes and kills my next door neighbour, should i be arrested or should the toaster manufacturer?

[–] CannonFodder@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

Yeah, but in this case it's more like if you threw your toaster at your neighbor's head killing him.

So we're suing gun makers too?

It depends. Does the toaster brand have a known, documented history of doing exactly that and you bought it anyway? Also, is the toaster company run by a Nazi?

"The company says FSD doesn't make its cars self-driving". Well than maybe they need to change the name of FSD.
