The people in charge are stealing money from the American people and those in the government that are supposed to stop them will not because they are part of the problem.

Everything else is a distraction to this primary purpose of stealing money.

Flood the zone.

You just keep doing shit, and when things go bad, you do more shit to distract people from the previous shit you did.

He's literally demented... no impulse control, he's basically not capable of being rational.

He's a dying narcissist... extremely petty and vain.

He is also a corrupt mob boss, he makes Al Capone look like an underachiever.

He fills every government position he can with family members and sycophants who follow and worship him like a cult leader, and they all routinely flout and ignore any laws that impede them from doing what they want, and because they very often are the people in charge of enforcing the law... on laws they themselves are breaking... they simply don't.

He's also a child rapist and murderer, and Israel has proof of this they can release, so, he does what they want.

If you are at all familiar with American history... taken together, these are significantly worse characteristics than the Mad King George III we literally revolted against to form the country.

We elect actors and politicians on the basis of likeability, so we get old actors and spoiled rich kids. This one has severe mental health issues, and is surrounded by syncophants with extreme antisocial agendas. So, chaos.

Since well before reagan, the figurehead is used as cover by the rest. So they contribute to the pillaging and don't care about the craziness because they're dumb enough to think there won't be consequences.

I feel like people here aren’t giving enough “credit” to Congress. Historically we’ve relied on different branches of government to keep each other in check. Their own lust for power that drove them to elected office should motivate them to guard and protect that power. However in the current realm there does seem to be a cult of personality where congressmen are judged more on their loyalty to party than on getting things done for their constituents. This extends even to abdicating the power that drove them to be elected.

Congress should be the one keeping Trump in check, at least for all the places where he steps on their own authority. However republicans have decided that party loyalty is more important.

Our founding document is the Constitution, giving Congress sole authority over budgeting, for example. The big ugly bill was passed by Congress to support trumps platform of enriching the rich. That’s legitimate, if disappointing. But everywhere that Trump redirects funding is directly violating constitutional checks and balances, is directly grabbing power from Congress. I no longer expect morality from Congress, but why do they not care that their power is being stolen?

Well... in a nutshell... after Trump committed treason, our government decided in its infinite wisdom that its hands were tied as regards consequences for him because he announced his candidacy in the 2024 election. A couple of states tried to bar him from running on account of his treason, but in his previous term, Trump appointed a few traitors to be supreme court judges, and they said: "no, section 3 of the 14th amendment doesn't apply (disqualification from office for insurrection or rebellion), because it doesn't specifically list the office of president".

So, we all collectively decided: "Well, the traitors have decided to let the traitor run for president. Let's see how this pans out." And then 77 million traitors voted for him, and he became the president. So now he's trying everything he can to make himself dictator for life so that he doesn't die in a prison cell.

Also, he's potentially the dumbest human to have ever lived, on top of the fact that he's suffering from late-stage dementia. So all of the weird, asinine, nonsensical decisions he's made... well... that's just par for the course for him.

The messaging coming out of the administration is largely done by agency heads. These are positions that are appointed by the president, and the single most important qualification is loyalty to Trump.

There's also a scramble for each agency head to grab as much power as possible, even to the detriment of other agencies because they know that Trump likes for them to find ways to push boundaries to consolidate gains. If it is at the cost of another agency head, so much the better: it just shows they were weak and raises the "go-getter" in Trump's esteem.

Aggravating the entire situation is that they've nearly isolated themselves from reality because the only voters they care about, the reactionary base, have been propagandized for decades to mistrust and despise every source outside of the far-right bubble. These sources, like Fox News, Breitbart, News Max, etc. have no incentive beyond telling their viewers what they want to hear because otherwise the audience will leave for a harder right source. To further compound the issue, Trump sees the world almost exclusively through a media lens and knows that the media can't effectively tell about a hundred scandals at once.

So we have rogue agencies all competing amongst themselves to make a big splash in the news so that they can please Trump, the head of the cult of personality, while doing what they can to consolidate power.

The essential problem is that there’s been a multi generational war on information, culminating in Fix News and other right wing media creating an alternate reality where culture wars are are the only thing roughly half the population think about.

You’re existing the in the real reality, so you see corruption. But half the people have need fed so many lies the corruption hidden by a layer of bullshit so thick they actually do think Trump was sent by God to stop trans people from going into women’s bathrooms.

They legitimately live on a different planet, and have made it clear they will literally riot if you contradict them. They fantasize about a civil war where they can kill you in your sleep. They can’t be fixed without being deprogrammed. But they don’t want to be deprogrammed. They want to be where they are. They are home.

Trump is raping America daily, and about a third of us are begging for more.
