Before anyone asks for source or remind me of rules: www.rnz.co.nz/news/environment/590633/over-100-kakapo-chicks-hatch-in-record-breaking-breeding-season

Also, before anyone says this is old news, yes 7 years ago it was also a record breaking season and i wouldn't be surprised if other media just copy pasted the article they had from back then: https://bbc.com/news/world-asia-pacific-47960764

Great job to everyone breeding fat chicks!

Friendly reminder that "kakapo", if read as a German word, means "shittybutt".

I can recommend the Douglas Adams book this series is based on. It's so damn funny (and sad)

Anything Douglas Adams is generally goated.:-)

I know I've only seen one relatively famous video about kakapo birds and my question may be biased in most part due to it, but are we sure they're worth the trouble?

True story: to try to help these birds reproduce they invented a fuck-helmet.

The human would wear the fuck-helmet and let the bird fuck the helmet so as to collect that very valuable birdcum

do you dare to click this informative link?

It seems they neither invented the fuck-helmet-for-birds (they mention getting the idea from kestrel researchers) nor did it work.

Not sure if I'm happy about that or not...
