Actually, this problem is why I stopped using Jerboa. It's really weird. Of course, like an asshole, I never bothered to ask about it ornfile a bug report, because I'm a bad person.
I use Eternity now, and I like it a lot.

Yeah, it happens with OpenBoard.
You can bypass it by moving your cursor anywhere by means of the space key (hold and move)
Is there a github issue?
there is but the TLDR version is that its a bug in sone andriid library not the software itself. There is also a github issue for the affected android library
I've been meaning to post about a similar issue, where when I backspace, it removes the space between the previous 2 words, so I have to backspace more, and sometimes it happens again. So this makes me have to start moving the cursor around myself to fix things. Very annoying.
I think the problem relies on your keyboard app.
I use openboard and have this issue once in a while, but only in jerboa, no where else.
It doesn't happen anywhere else. I use the default Lineage os keyboard app
I believe this is an issue with both openboard and the aosp keyboard (with jerboa specifically), here lemme find the repo for the open board fork thats still getting development
Edit: https://github.com/Helium314/openboard this fork is under active development. It can be installed via the apks on github or through obtainium. If there isn't one already it would be helpful to submit a bug report for the issue you're experiencing. It might be good to open a bug report with jerboa too
I'll just stick with the preinstalled one on lineage os.
I have the same issue as Cris on LineageOS. Do you happen to know how we can make the LOS devs aware of that issue so they can pull in a fix?
I just moved to a different app. I now use Eternity
I have a similar issue. Jerboa overrides the default behaviour on my phone for double-tapping a word in a text entry box. In most other apps, double-tapping a word causes the whole word to be selected, similar to double-clicking in a PC word processor. In Jerboa, this behaviour is broken, and it simply jumps my cursor to the spot I double-tapped.
I have not experienced this, but I also have the default keyboard for my phone.
Do you use Gapps? I use the lineage os keyboard so its likely different
I never had that issue. Are you sure it's only a Jerboa thing?
Yes
I had the same problem and posted here about it some time ago. There was a little discussion, but no solutions forthcoming.
Happens to me on a couple of other apps like Tinfoil or on some web pages in Firefox. (LineageOS with AOSP keyboard here, too.)
I got frustrated and moved over to the Voyager standalone app full time.
Is Voyager in the main F-droid repo? I don't see it
I side load from the Github release. https://github.com/aeharding/voyager
Yeah it seems that Jeroba is the only lemmy app on normal F-droid
Yes, it's very annoying, I experience it too
Yup, and also for some reason I can't reliably paste text (on long press, sometimes the menu option is there and sometimes it isn't?)
Highlighting text is also a pain and for some reason, it autocorrects words that I type in manually. Very annoying.
Jerboa is a native-android client for Lemmy, built using the native android framework, Jetpack Compose.
Warning: You can submit issues, but between Lemmy and lemmy-ui, I probably won't have too much time to work on them. Learn jetpack compose like I did if you want to help make this app better.
Jerboa is made by Lemmy's developers, and is free, open-source software, meaning no advertising, monetizing, or venture capital, ever. Your donations directly support full-time development of the project.
