Basically the title.

It is obviously more than something as simple as over-compensation, right?

The concept is really hard for me to understand. I do not get the need for certain groups to obsess over other's sexual identities like we see with the religious right making up all kinds of weird ideas about gay and transfolk, for instance.

They invent all kinds of shit in their minds and just completely obsess over the idea. I do not get it and would like to do some reading into the subject to get a better grasp on this incredibly wide spread thing that is all over western culture.

Like they seem to talk and think about these things they apparently hate so much. At a certain point would you not realize that if these things you despise are all you can think about, there might maybe be something up with yourself?

I'm not gay or trans fwiw. I'm just a straight cishet dude, so maybe the answers to this is way more apparent to people have been on the receiving end of this type of abuse.

There's also the incel movement, the weird nofap stuff, and the obsession of white women having sex with minorities as well. All of this is fucking strange and I do not understand the hangups, especially with how hard people seem to get hung up with these ideas.

Sex is a huge part of human existance. You can't just ignore it. Having sex with people in a natural way requires empathy and compromise and working together with someone on a very intimidate level.

The way right wing people deal with this is to have a rule driven way of doing sex that requires very little of this. The most common way is to have the women stay still and not do much while the man fucks her, and limiting it to men doing women. Rules are simple and easy to follow. And there are of course the rules on how you get to the point a women will be ok with having sex with you.

Sexual liberation means just following these rules doesn't work anymore. And if these people just learned to be empathetic and do the work to actually get with someone instead of trying to do it without having to learn anything, they wouldn't be right wing weirdos.

I uh, and literally about to bang someone rn, so I can't wrap this up nicely but I think you can tell where I'm going with this.

I don't know too much about this, but have you ever heard the phrase "everything in life is about sex, except for sex: sex is about power"? I've only ever heard chuds say that and I feel like that describes their worldview so succinctly.

For me, the sexual pathology stuff falls under a larger umbrella of denial and structuring your worldview in a way that frames you as a 'good guy.'

I think it's really as simple as, people will do whatever they want to do and then justify it with denial and politics, at least in America. Maybe that's taking a plane all over the world even though they believe in global warming. Maybe it's telling people to vote as primary praxis even though they run a socialist podcast. Maybe it's enjoying being rude to people with lives harder than you, and then justifying it by painting them with a moral negative (gay, trans, etc etc).

This is a very interesting topic. I can possibly respond more later. Wilhem Reich did theorize about this and proposed that the family is actually the origin of fascistic impulses. Reich's work has been used um....creatively to say the least.... (People tend to go "Oh, other that sex weather control guy who thinks it is healthy to have orgasms. Let me give him lip service in my neo tantra book!" Some of his political writings were actually really good.

There has to be more theorists and ideas about this but I'm drawing a blank atm. Like feminist theory has to have something extensive on this.
