Honestly, and sorry to be that stereotype. But please just give up on windows.

it's mind boggling to me what people will put up with, software wise. someone recently sent a screenshot of the new Instagram opt-out feed your pics to the AI settings in a local trans discord, like, PSA you should turn these off. and it's like, how do you not just stop using the app? instagram was already intolerable and terrible for so many reasons, how is this not a last straw for you? i don't get it at all

Yea same with most of the big tech stuff the enshsitification have been going on so long it's a boiling frog thing I think.

I thought this was something about firmware updates at first and I was writing some shit about how this is expected behaviour from Windows update... But holy shit megacorps are using The Microsoft firmware repository to distribute malware???? And there was no protection of verification to prevent this whatsoever??? there are so many malicious actors right now crafting some insane software supply chain attacks with this information lmao

The supply chain attacks are so bad im actually legit considering making all my machines offline and have a sandbox for internet access.

The people that live with me can have lan parties and be happy they will have no such router login

is this the monitor installing it, or is windows update program detecting the LG monitor and installing it?

[–] ashinadash@hexbear.net 14 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Near as I can tell, (watched the G*mers Nexus video) Windows 11 sees your monitor and installs adware/spyware for you, so it is entirely a skill issue with using Windows. I was really curious too, wondered if they'd turned monitors into spying machines the way TVs are, but na just Windows use doggirl-smug

I use the old dusty monitors from the thrift store. I game only on hacked devices and do not plan on buying in anymore. I have a windows 10 machine that is not connected to the internet. As soon as it gives me shit I will cannibalise it. I have always hated online gaming and personaly predicted this would all play out the way it has.... I mean the ISLAND talikin about activision. What more evidence do you need. yah noe

Same, same, no reason to buy in anymore frankly. I have one or two Windows 10 dualboots, but haven't booted either in months. Always hated online gaming as well kel-bliss

I have one of the affected monitors 😥

Guess I better stay in Linux and not boot back into Windows...
