Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

As she walked the aisles, MR said in an interview, she sensed a man standing close behind her. She turned to confront him and noticed that he was a good six inches taller than her. He was talking in graphic detail about sexual things he wanted to do to her. “You’re so disgusting, get away from me,” she told him, and hurried off to find her friend.

Still, he stayed close, and for a few tense minutes the two of them locked eyes while she waited in line to pay. When at last he left, she thought that was the end of it – until, back outside in the chill of the winter morning, she felt something cold against the back of her leggings.

The man had ejaculated on her.

“I didn’t know how to react. I wanted to kill this man,” said MR, who was 47 at the time, recalling the horror and helplessness she felt as her friend wiped her off with towels. (The Guardian has verified MR’s identity but is not publishing her full name to protect her privacy.)

Hours later, on the advice of a sister who worked in law enforcement, she fished her soiled leggings out of the garbage and took them back to the store to report what had happened. A clerk listened to her account and, not seeming to realize that MR understood Spanish, shouted to a colleague in a backroom: “Tenemos otra.”

“We’ve got another one.”

How... How do you even do that????? Dumbfounded.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 4 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

i remember seeing that video of a gross pervert that jerked off on woman shoppers, never knew it was a DT store on r/publicfreakout a while back. the dude was chicken just ran off after coming on them.

[–] ZombieCyborgFromOuterSpace@piefed.ca 31 points 7 hours ago (3 children)

Fucking gross. What the fuck is wrong with men these days? And I'm saying this as a man. Fucking hell.

They're really becoming a race of fucking baboons. Between the looksmaxxing incels, the christo-fascists, misogynists, and these sexual predators, there's just no end to the shit men are doing these days. You can't rely on them to save our society from the predators that rule it, because they're on the same fucking team.

I swear, if I have faith in anyone to save our society it's going to be women and queer folk. Because the men have lost it.

[–] khaleer@sopuli.xyz 3 points 3 hours ago

well, the reason for our society being fucked up is men are fucked up, so the last sentence is pretty accurate I guess.

[–] rethnor@lemmy.zip 7 points 4 hours ago

As bad as it is today, I'm assuming it's still better than most of history. It's not a woman's duty to service her husband anymore, he can still get charged with rape even when married.

[–] habitualcynic@lemmy.world 9 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Fully agree, wish I could have said it so eloquently. Calling them baboons is insulting to baboons.

eloquently

lol!!! Thanks

My partner showed me an article some time ago about something that needs to make a comeback: hatpinning

I see too many stories about men who could use a good hat pinning

[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Hatpinning: taking a hat and pinning it to a tree to symbolize faith in racoon people taking over

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 hours ago

No, it's tracking the exact lat/long of your hat using a Google Maps pin.

[–] Herr_S_aus_H@lemmy.zip 3 points 4 hours ago

What the actual fuck?
And to the wastes of space downplaying this or making fun of it, good work of proving everybody right that says men simply suck.

[–] FE80@lemmy.world 13 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

The future is fuckin weird.

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 3 points 7 hours ago

Fuckin' a dude! I feel like that dude hitting the bong watching some people fight. I'm just here for the entertainment at this point.

[–] Angular@crazypeople.online 23 points 10 hours ago

I will, for sure, kill a mfer for doing that to me or my wife.

[–] aramis87@fedia.io 182 points 16 hours ago (6 children)

This should end up with them on the sex offender registry. It won't, but it should.

[–] CobblerScholar@lemmy.world 73 points 16 hours ago (10 children)

I mean what else would it be if not sexual assault tantamount to rape?

[–] Zak@lemmy.world 59 points 15 hours ago

Under Texas law, it's indecent assault, a misdemeanor for a first offense in most cases. It's similar in Pennsylvania. Those are two of the states where incidents in the article took place.

I'm generally against the recent trend to increase the severity of existing crimes, but I will make an exception here: this should be a felony.

This is repulsive. As a (wo?)man, I’d beat the fucking shit out of anyone who does this.

[–] CultLeader4Hire@lemmy.world 9 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

The issues is most women can’t beat the shit out of most men and the men doing this know it and don’t care about anything except physical domination. That said, a good knee or kick to the groin will do the trick, no add beating required.

[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone -3 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Not even addressing ridiculous male chauvinism, weapons exist, also element of surprise, guns, etc

[–] michaelalf@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

Not allowed to carry weapons, mace etc. where I live. What should my 5'4" Wife do in this situation?

[–] Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world 3 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Pepper spray. Seriously. It's not expensive and it should be legal. Way easier to use and no permanent damage either. Just press the button and spray those fuckers.

[–] michaelalf@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, would absolutely ask them to carry it, but again, illegal in my Nanny-Country of Australia. Sucks to be a vulnerable person here, with minimal ways to defend yourself.

[–] Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

How the fuck is pepper spray illegal? What is the fine for carrying it?

[–] michaelalf@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

A first‑time offence carries a maximum fine of $33,300 or up to 2 years imprisonment. Repeat offences attract higher fines and mandatory custodial sentences. Courts consider the intent, quantity, and whether the spray was used in a public place. Even possession of an empty canister can be prosecuted as “possession of a prohibited weapon.”

Yeah...

[–] Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Uhmmm what the fuck?! Yeah I got no idea then. I assume tasers are banned as well. Does your law even allow self defense then? Maybe a walking stick/cane that can be used for defense?

[–] michaelalf@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Self defence is allowed, with "appropriate force". No weapons to deliver that force though, including tasers.

[–] Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

Yeah that's just fucked. If you're a small woman or even a small man that is weaksr than the average man you need a force multiplier AKA weapon to be able to even reach appropriate force. Glad we're allowed to own pepper spray where I live.

[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Sharp object under jaw pointing upwards. Use both hands and full force.

Alternatively, bite down as hard as you can on the throat.

Stores sell knives and other sharp or pointy objects. Or blunt objects.

I dunno man, be creative. Maybe panic and shit your pants because woman helpless and weak and inferior to man uwu 🎻

[–] michaelalf@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

You legitimately can't carry anything resembling a weapon in Australia, sharp or blunt. In my state, brandishing a blunt object like a cricket bat can get you jail time.

So I'm not asking to stir the pot, I seriously fear for my Wife and Daughter's safety, and I can't do anything about it. I guess societal pressure on these predators is the only tool we can use here.

There's too many sick fucks like this all over the world. If we lived in a country with more relaxed laws, they would both be packing at least mace, preferably a pistol.

[–] switcheroo@lemmy.world 38 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Not even sorry to say, the INSTANT I feel threatened, my tiny ass foot is going up your dick hole as forcibly as possible. I am fairly small, don't often feel worried about that... but you get in my space I'm going to bring you down to my height. Or the floor. Preferably the floor.

Disgusting people need to be afraid of reactions again.

[–] some_designer_dude@lemmy.world 14 points 8 hours ago

This is how perverts and men who try to intimidate women should be treated by everyone. Perverts, and billionaires.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 31 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Need to bring back hat pins.

[–] Wren@lemmy.today 10 points 10 hours ago

This is a friendly reminder that you can buy hat pins at any well stocked sewing or craft store.

[–] Tempus_Fugit@lemmy.world 70 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago) (18 children)

Let this shit happen in front of me. There is no way I'm not interfering. I don't mind going to jail for beating the brakes off of a bully.

[–] Blibly@lemmy.world 68 points 16 hours ago (24 children)

Our society has broken down to the point that we legitimately have to bring back mob justice. I'm so ashamed to be a human right now.
