Community Rules

You must post before you leave

Be nice. Assume others have good intent (within reason).

Block or ignore posts, comments, and users that irritate you in some way rather than engaging. Report if they are actually breaking community rules.

Use content warnings and/or mark as NSFW when appropriate. Most posts with content warnings likely need to be marked NSFW.

Most 196 posts are memes, shitposts, cute images, or even just recent things that happened, etc. There is no real theme, but try to avoid posts that are very inflammatory, offensive, very low quality, or very "off topic".

Bigotry is not allowed, this includes (but is not limited to): Homophobia, Transphobia, Racism, Sexism, Abelism, Classism, or discrimination based on things like Ethnicity, Nationality, Language, or Religion.

Avoid shilling for corporations, posting advertisements, or promoting exploitation of workers.

Proselytization, support, or defense of authoritarianism is not welcome. This includes but is not limited to: imperialism, nationalism, genocide denial, ethnic or racial supremacy, fascism, Nazism, Marxism-Leninism, Maoism, etc.

Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

Edit: For context, @db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com discovered that the developer of Tesseract had discretely banned numerous instances and disguised it as a server error. This included more heavily leftist instances, but also blahaj.zone. More recently, it was discovered that they had also been suppressing individual users, phrases, and communities that criticize power tripping on fedi.

Needless to say, I implore non blahaj.zone users to drop the Tesseract client (support for the client has already been dropped for blahaj). So called "liberals" like this who call out "extremism on both sides" are an insult to the values they claim to be upholding.

Since it's opensource, is there any way I can add myself to the list?

[–] bluesheep@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago) (1 children)

Holy shit my username made the regex list. I have never been more proud of anything I've ever achieved online with my shitty fucking posts

EDIT:

"^Left(y|ie|ist)|^Anarchis(t|m)|^Tank(y|ie) ?(Humou?r|Meme|Joke|Circle|Jerk)",

They're really not trying to be subtle here now are they

[–] TotallynotJessica@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

They didn't think people would see it, and tbf nobody discovered it before now.

[–] Draconic_NEO@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 28 minutes ago

They're probably hoping it'll blow over and that people will forget and forgive them for it. We can't let that happen or they'll do the same thing again, or worse.

Is it because I once said I hope Gina Rinehart's entire family spontaneously combusts? Because I stand by that.

[–] TotallynotJessica@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 55 minutes ago

Can't even say you want billionaires to die without libs getting all butthurt, smh. Do they not realize that the rich are responsible for making me scared of getting disappeared by the Gestapo? I'm afraid for my life thanks to them supporting Trump, but these pieces of shit want to tone police my fears into non existence. Them banning a handful of maga instances doesn't change the fact that they're helping those very people.

[–] crypt0cler1c@infosec.pub 9 points 2 hours ago

I didn't make the list. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

[–] SeventySeven@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 hours ago

I made the list! I'm just finding this out now, I'm not familar with tesseract though or how it exactly works, does that mean the reason I cant use oldsh.itjust.works old reddit style layout because of this? I've been having issues with loading posts using oldsh.itjust.works, so maybe this is why!

[–] Grail@multiverse.soulism.net 7 points 3 hours ago

I didn't make the list, but the instance I admin did, so I guess the liberals fear Me.

[–] Prunebutt@slrpnk.net 20 points 4 hours ago

Nice! I'm on it, too!

Now, how do I trigger a GDPR and force them to remove my name, just to annoy the dev?

[–] lena@gregtech.eu 34 points 5 hours ago (3 children)
[–] pleb_maximus@piefed.zip 20 points 4 hours ago

Only an evil person could want to ban subs.
Right?
  🥺
👉👈

[–] yetAnotherUser@lemmy.ca 9 points 3 hours ago

Apparently "🥺?👉👈" is either very "extremist" or "group thinking" for that dev, lol

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 14 points 5 hours ago

🖕😉 🖕

(Directed at him, not you!)

[–] PDFuego@aussie.zone 33 points 5 hours ago

Me, seeing my name on this list:

[–] yetAnotherUser@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago) (2 children)

Don't worry, TotallyNotJessica. It's possible you don't interact in the same communities the dev does, and I think that's the reason you aren't in the blacklist.

(Removed unnecessary P.S. comment)

[–] Jankatarch@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

It's weird.

Violet08 is banned while femcelmemes is not. Blahaj is banned while TotallyNotJessica is not.

Do they have inverted criteria for communities and users? What are the criterias? Will someone please tell me how do I get on this list!?

That is what I assumed too. I don't really venture outside of blahaj.zone often, especially not recently. I did use to argue with libs a lot on certain lemmy.world comms in the past; my very first posts on lemmy were political mud slinging, but I guess it wasn't enough.

[–] Someonelol@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

My paranoia's paying off. I'm noticed enough to be blocked by a random asshole.

[–] VitoRobles@lemmy.today 4 points 1 hour ago

Not me. Am I not worthy?!

[–] KairuByte@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

We should all just end our messages with perchance so anyone using tesseract can’t see them.

The dev is ugly, many people are saying it. Fugly, even

[–] TotallynotJessica@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

And they smell like rotten fish

[–] Draconic_NEO@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 26 minutes ago

I bet he wears the same yucky underwear every day.

[–] EatMyPixelDust@lemmy.blahaj.zone 40 points 6 hours ago (7 children)

Don't forget this also works in reverse! The blocklist is also a contact list of cool people ;)

No, that was the entire point. I'm not a cool person because I'm not on that list

[–] SeventySeven@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 hours ago

I'll take this in stride and wear it as a badge of honor!

[–] criss_cross@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

TIL I’m too cool for school.

[–] NoForwadSlashS@piefed.social 2 points 3 hours ago

While sad I'm not on it, I saw every user I have a positive tag set for on there. At least I'm making some good choices.

woah... I'm on the list. But I try to avoid politics online so I don't understand why?

Is it my promotion of !gothindustrial@lemmy.world ?

Or !sumo@lemmy.world ?

Or !bmoviebonanza@lemmy.world ?

oh wait it's gotta be !juggalos@lemmy.world ...

[–] TotallynotJessica@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

I think they just see you as too weird/unsightly.

[–] Sergio@piefed.social 3 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Oh... thank you. That's such a nice explanation. Seriously, I was feeling a bit down earlier today and this snapped me out of it. I'ma screencap this and look at it next time I'm sad.

[–] TotallynotJessica@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 53 minutes ago

There is no greater honor than being seen as a freak by people with sticks up their ass.

[–] Assassassin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 5 hours ago

I just can't believe I'm finally part of a cool kids club
