Americans will use anything but metric smdh.

[-] morrowind@lemmy.ml 63 points 10 months ago

My feet are 0.83 feet long

[-] qisope@lemmy.world 36 points 10 months ago

you're not legally allowed to call them feet then

[-] Sotuanduso@lemm.ee 16 points 10 months ago

You can get around those rules by spelling it wrong.

Pheet.

[-] lugal@lemmy.ml 9 points 10 months ago

Ok, my pheet are 0.83 pheet long

Much better

Whatever king it was had really big feet though.

[-] n7gifmdn@lemmy.ca 12 points 10 months ago

I hope you are joking. There are no decimals in standard measuring systems. Decimals are a Communist plot. ;-)

[-] ioney@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago

83/100 feet

Alt: The character The Boulder from TV series "Avatar: The Last Airbender" captioned "The Boulder feels conflicted."

[-] morrowind@lemmy.ml 17 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Doesn't markdown let you add alt-text in the form ![alt text](url) ?

Wait lemmy test
test alt text

edit: yea it works
edit2: maybe not
edit3: no it def does

[-] capital@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago

Been wondering why people just upload with “image”.

[-] db2@sopuli.xyz 7 points 10 months ago

I try to always add useful alt text.

[-] baronvonj@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago

I'll definitely try and remember to do it moving forward, I didn't know about that feature.

[-] baronvonj@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

I don't see any alt text in yours when I click the image in my mobile client.

[-] morrowind@lemmy.ml 3 points 10 months ago

It's showing up in the html, maybe your image viewer doesn't show it?

Coloradan here. This tweet was a joke response from the sheriff's department to a previous incident where they described a large boulder the size of a large boulder blocking the road.

[-] vyper63@monyet.cc 11 points 10 months ago

Update: I was wrong. The officer meant to say "the size of a small car". The "larger boulder the size of a large boulder" tweet came later as a joke reference to this one.

[-] cholesterol@lemmy.world 10 points 10 months ago

Probably meant to write 'the size of a large car' originally?

I imagine a Venn diagram with small boulders on the left side and large boulders on the right and in the middle the one on the image

[-] spudwart@spudwart.com 37 points 10 months ago

It's not just a boulder, it's a rock.

[-] pete_the_cat@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago

Do you smeeeeelllllllllll what it's cooking?

[-] agentshags@sh.itjust.works 4 points 10 months ago

Hopefully pizza, because I'm starving!

[-] qisope@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

astonishingly in the shape of a boulder

[-] doctorn@r.nf 30 points 10 months ago

I just realized I have a giant cat the size of a small cat...

Nature is amazing!

[-] CryptidBestiary@lemmy.world 19 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Would you rather fight a large small boulder, or a small large boulder?

[-] MajorMajormajormajor@lemmy.ca 12 points 10 months ago

This reminds me of the joke about the little person psychic who escaped jail.

They're a small medium at large.

[-] Sotuanduso@lemm.ee 6 points 10 months ago

Flows a bit better if you just use little psychic instead of little person psychic. Or maybe short psychic so it's not as obvious.

[-] BustinJiber@lemmy.world 16 points 10 months ago

Looks something like 50 capybaras big?... more?

[-] hperrin@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

Are we talking volumetric capybaras or massive capybaras?

[-] Dave@lemmy.nz 3 points 10 months ago

50? 50! I can't imagine that large boulder the size of a small boulder is the same size as 50 of these?

spoilera group of capybaras sitting by some water

[-] radioactiveradio@lemm.ee 16 points 10 months ago

Is it heavier than feathers tho?

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 14 points 10 months ago

This is what happens when cops are in charge of their own social media.

[-] Wilibus@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

Nah, this is what happens when society is more concerned with sensationalism than factuality.

[-] TheMagicalTimonini@lemmy.world 10 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

It was a little boulder, such a little boulder, but it reminded me of a large boulder, yeah just in miniature size.

[-] TryingToEscapeTarkov@lemmy.world 9 points 10 months ago

Bould of them to assume they know sizes.

[-] Streptember@kbin.social 11 points 10 months ago

Highway 145, mile marker 78.

Oh... Well that's just annoying.

[-] rob64@startrek.website 3 points 10 months ago

It is. I'm American and millimeter was my first thought as well

Fortune favours the boulder.

[-] terminhell@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 10 months ago
[-] nevial@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 10 months ago

No, it's clearly the size of a small boulder

[-] Rubanski@lemm.ee 3 points 10 months ago

Is this Bob the Boulder?

[-] Shardikprime@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

Looks bouldery enough to me
