Sadly, his performance in Wild Blue Yonder was his last. He passed away a few months after filming.

IIRC they had originally written more for him, but after shooting that one scene he was too ill to come back and do more.

That was his last appearance? But we ended on a cliff hanger. He's really not going to show up in the opening scene of the next episode?

Honestly, I don't know, I haven't watched the next episode yet. The article I found said that what appearances we get are less than what was hoped for, but what he was able to film.

It sounded, in that context, like the cliffhanger might be all we get, or there might be a bit more in the next episode.
