Welcome to today’s daily kōrero!

Anyone can make the thread, first in first served. If you are here on a day and there’s no daily thread, feel free to create it!

Anyway, it’s just a chance to talk about your day, what you have planned, what you have done, etc.

So how’s it going?

Back to work today. It's crazy how fast it goes from "I guess I could do more on this" to "Do all the things" so quickly.

This was a good weekend though. Went out for some geocaching on Matariki, and climbed one of the two Mt. Haast's on Saturday, and had friends over all day Sunday.

Holy moly that's one hell of a view mate! Good on you

It's amazing up that high, but wow was it tough to get there. That whole route is like 45 degrees incline the whole way, or its walking in a creek bed and trying not to sink in the mud! I may make a post with some pictures later today

You're running out of day 😝. I'm also keen to see some more pictures!

Hah yea I'll need to do it. I got lost looking into fediverse image sharing

You can upload images directly into posts. Might be easiest on the website.

I don't think there are albums but you can upload one for the post then in the post body you can add the others by clicking the little add image button.

There's a 5MB file size limit, and the error is not helpful, so I thought I'd better mention it.

Heading back home today after a week visiting my parents with my son (and then was joined later by the rest of my family). Back to work tomorrow 😐

Just received the invoice from the sparky after our mains entry point burnt out and needed an after-hours replacement. It's in the ballpark I was expecting (in fact maybe a bit under), but not so high that it's worth going through house insurance to only save a couple of hundred once I pay the excess.

Thanks for the update! I'm often surprised by low tradesman bills, mostly because I always expect them to cost a fortune.

School holidays over, uni back and I've got 3 sick kids and a sick wife.

Yay...

Our dehumidifier burnt out this morning; luckily it went while we were up and moving about (we run it overnight usually). Anyone have any recommendations on a replacement? The only thing I can think of in terms of specs is something that has a night/quiet mode - I'm not sure what else to look for.

If my memory is right, I think @sylverstream@lemmy.nz bought one recently. They might be able to comment on which one they got and if they liked it.

[-] sylverstream@lemmy.nz 2 points 1 year ago

Haha yeah awesome memory @Dave@lemmy.nz

@sortofblue@lemmy.nz after a lot of research we bought this one from Living & Co: https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/p/living-co-dehumidifier-10l/N212010.html With CSCBG discount it's $211.70 . To get that discount, see here: https://www.cheapies.nz/node/24307?page=1#comment-141362 I've just done click & collect to get the CSCBG discount.

First couple of days we had it running 24/7 to get the humidity down, now we use it only when it's damp (e.g. when drying clothes). It's fine for a room up to ~15 m2; definitely not strong enough for a whole house.

We have it running overnight sometimes, it's quiet on the low setting, but you can still hear it humming. Fine with us, depends on how light you sleep.

Hope this helps!
