i was so confused when i visited a friend in kentucky and they were talking about the lightning bugs and how pretty they are.

they were dumbfounded when i had never heard of them; they talked for the rest of the day about how much awe i would be in once i saw them.

...... they were fireflies. i had to pretend like it was the most amazing thing i had ever seen because i told them i hadnt even heard of them before.

i have no idea how many times i had to tell my parents and grandparents that we have decided to not have children, but over the course of ~6-8ish years, it was consistently asked more than once every time we saw each other.

was not a big fan of having other people's wants being thrust into my life as if they are more important than my own.

thankfully, still kid free at 41.

aaahhh, okay; thank you! i am on the west cost where all trains go as fast as heavy freight, heh.

tracks in the US usually have freight heavy rail on them, anyways, so you'll probably get 4 minutes at that speed before travelling 40mph for the rest of the trip. :/

as a software engineer who didnt go to college, i am not talking about programming; i have peers at work who have a masters degree in CS who know nothing about computers.

i'm talking about troubleshooting problems and fixing them by telling your boomer aunt what to do over a video call when her keyboard makes her computer too slow for her cat to read her favorite comic when she presses the "G" key.

not the person you replied to, but i have been using cloudflare zero trust for my streaming needs; have not gotten a complaint yet.

just make sure you have the upload bandwidth.

paint's cheap.

presidents probably spend over 1,000 times a bucket of paint to rape children on a private island.

i did the world a favor and decided to not have kids. sadly, this also means i am unable to hand down a generation's worth of computer knowledge, heh.

this kinda made me giggle:

...so that no hitches were sticking out into traffic

they are all sticking out into a pedestrian walkway.

i am happy you got one of those beefy arms on there for good measure.

i figured gen z would start fixing my computer once i hit my current age (41); turns out i dont know any gen z's that understand how computers work.

im really tired of being everyone's tech support :(

it has been difficult for me to find reliable or consistent information on things like e-bikes, e-scooters, and other forms of personal transport, mostly due to the market being flooded by fly-by-night companies.

is there a good resource that any of you use, especially for reviews of well-respected brands?

intentionally not showing photo because its always super gross in there. its cleaning like 10% better now. #worth
