So instead of celebrating her on the bottle, or doing something to recognize her... They go the other direction and just remove her.

No no, breakfast gun goes on the right side, what's wrong is it's laying the wrong way.

Why did I read that in Vincent Price's voice? I even heard his laugh

And now you did too

I had to go watch it. You're not wrong, it tells you absolutely nothing about the game. Everything looked per-rendered. It reminded me a lot of the Beyond Good and Evil 2 trailer from 2017... where it could just as easily be a CGI movie than a video game.

My plan is either soon the lotto or die before retirement. Now, I've been in a corporate job for nearly 2 decades, putting money in a 401k and Roth IRA. But given the rate that the value of the dollar is just tanking and the cost of everything is skyrocketing, I honestly figure everything I saved will be worthless. I've had my AC off for months at this point, turned it off towards the end of winter early spring. The electric company is telling me that I'm at best on par with some of my neighbors with other neighbors using less than half. Insurance for the car is going up. I love when I ask about why are my rates so high, they blame other drivers and somehow that's my problem. In 2017 my bill was $335. 7 years later it's up to $634. Same vehicle, no accidents. $100 for groceries does not go very far anymore. I'm pretty sure there was a picture on Lemmy just the other day showing someone with a receipt buying the same stuff and it was like three times more now than it was just a few years ago.

Use one of those inflation calculators and between 2010 and 2024 we're at 44%.

I still have more than two decades to go before my supposed retirement date. And I have no faith in our economy.

I'm partial deaf... These let me hear music in a way I never could. I remember being in a quiet place and listened to an audio sample... Hearing an instrument on my bad side was like listening to it for the first time. Hearing in stereo is just wild when you have only heard in mono your whole life

Not only are they dropping support for it and unless someone figures out how to hack you just throw it away. But don't worry, they won't automatically cancel your subscription.... that function keeps working.

So my gaming computer is in my bedroom. I do use Folding@Home to heat the room during winter months.

IT guy here... Uh, no. I resent that you would group us with HR.

At my work I keep advocating to give our underperforming hardware (aka old hardware) a second life by opening up sales for them instead of destroying them (except hard drives of course).

When my laptop was acting up and was kind of crappy... I replace the thermal paste and replaced the old failing hard drive with a new SSD. At laptop is now 14 years old (Intel i5-540).

I saw the picture before I read the title, what a roller coaster of emotions that was. I thought he was going to amputate his foot.

The SssniperWolf is the biggest 'reaction' channel on YouTube. I.e. steal other people's videos, giving no credit, and not being transformative. You see a ton of these, and every last one is 100% worthless. She constantly goes for the 8 minute marker so she can run more ads. It's all stolen content, nothing given back to the real creators.

Jack, had been making videos about this, calling out SssniperWolf specifically (the biggest offender currently). Helping people get their videos removed from hers. He's done this for years, SssniperWolf is just the latest. Example, many years ago the big offender (though one could argue actually had some effort put in...) =3 with RayWilliamJohnson.

So, this week, SssniperWolf decided to track down where Jack lives, then made a video post showing his address, doxxing him and his wife. Now she's playing ignorant and innocent, pretending she doesn't even know what doxxing is. Doxxing has in the past led to swatting which has led to people dying.

Words are cheap.

I'll believe it when I see it. The last time I personally believe they last put any effort into their games was X/Y. And only because they went from pixel to polys.

The story has been crap for a while. Even gen 1 has a more compelling story. The bad guys have been laughably stupid, and your rival... Your rival is an overly clingy person who desperately wants to be your best friend. The mechanics haven't budged in forever. So much so a goldfish can accidentally win. Every game is more about that games mechanic then building the franchise or gameplay. And a gimmicks are half baked, propped up just to sell but never follow through on. How many pokémon actually got mega evolutions? Or Z-moves, or Dynamaxing and Gigantamaxing. I mean, I quit shield like maybe a few weeks after it came out and I have most of them because... It was just a temporary gimmick to slap on the box to try to sell it.

But beyond just a bare bones mechanics that is the game...

Scarlett and violet run terribly. And I know a lot of people kept trying to blame the switch hardware because god forbid you blame pokémon. But it's not like it was just Scarlet and violet, sword and shield also ran pretty terribly not as bad but still bad. And they look like upscaled PS1 games. Mainstream pokémon games are just an example of putting in minimum effort while riding nostalgia and cartoon tie-in.

I hope when the next game gets announced, no one pre-orders. I know that won't happen because people are afraid that somehow they're going to run out of digital copies... But I can dream. I hope everyone waits until reviews come out. Because I want to remind you Nintendo doesn't do returns.
