This is why the entire Fediverse exists, not just Lemmy.

Paper mache would be fun, although it might not be for you if you have sensory issues and dislike getting all slimy like you'd end up doing with that craft, or pottery even for that matter.

Also, drawing, painting, or sculpture in general is fun as well.

I actually would like to start playing with paper mache again as the last time I did anything with that was in middle school, but it's just too messy to be feasible atm.

I'm on peertube.wtf, but some other good instances include MakerTube if you're art or craft-focused, for example.

Any kind of art or crafts, although if you have sensory issues, you may not like some of the messier media, eg. like any sort of paints, or chalk or charcoal.

I for the longest time as a kid had issues with getting anything goopy on me, for example, although I have since learned to manage that and now any water-based paints are really fun for me to play with and are one of my fave art media, my other faves being crayons, chalk, and oil pastels, but sensory issues with certain materials are something to be aware of, whether they're managed or not.

Some people may have sensory issues with fumes from solvents used with oil paints as well, for example.

It's been fine aside from being completely dead.

A Reddit alternative based on ATproto. Basically, it's to Lemmy, what Bsky or Blacksky is to Mastodon.

No, but I'd think Nooki could've funneled in some of Bsky's userbase since it runs on the same protocol as Bsky, and gotten livelier than it appears to be, like Lemmy is actually active but its competitor over on ATproto, Nooki, is nothing but crickets.

Basically, as the title asks, Nooki is effectively dead in terms of activity compared to Lemmy which is actually pretty active, but ATproto, which Nooki uses, has a larger userbase than ActivityPub, doesn't that seem odd to anyone else or is it just me?

Nooki should be more active than it seems like it is at least on my end.

Wouldn't that efficiency thing largely depend on what silicon you're using though? Like, for example, if you have an old AM1 board sitting around, those are 25W APUs and shouldn't use anywhere near that if used as the base for a router.

Meanwhile if you're using, say, an AM3+ board and an FX-4300 for your router, the FX-4300 is a 95W part and more likely to cost more to run by contrast to, say, the Athlon 5350's 25W on AM1.

Less competition for Google's own slop, though, which is bad.

Great if it works, but I seriously doubt it's going to work.

the megacorps stand wayyy too much to lose here and would fight tooth and nail to prevent anything like this.

  • The megacorps could just bribe their way out of it like they do every other form of legal scrutiny.

Proof that Ecosia isn't really about their 'eco' claims when they're getting their search results from the people who are actively killing the world right now instead of indexing stuff independently.

LibreWolf is one of the best browsers for people who don't like generative AI.

Here is the statement posted on Mastodon:

As there seems to have been recent confusion about this, just a quick "official" toot to then pin: we haven't and won't support "generative AI" related stuff in LibreWolf. If you see some features like that (like Perplexity search recently, or the link preview feature now) it is solely because it "slipped through". As soon as we become aware of something like this / it gets reported to us, we will remove/disable it ASAP.

As I detailed in that Friendica post, GenAI is a scam, because its entire dataset is fraudulently obtained by mass plagiarism, and it runs like a Ponzi scheme in that it steals new data to augment the old data, like how Ponzi schemes steal new money to pay off their old marks.

GenAI is robbing Peter to pay Paul, but with data instead of money, and somehow people think this is OK, while Bernie Madoff got locked up until he died for orchestrating what was the largest Ponzi scheme in history at the time in '08; in 18 years we went from actively prosecuting fraudsters, to basically giving them a free pass to defraud as many people across as many industries as they want, as Sam Altman, who I view to be basically the modern-day Bernie Madoff, will probably never even see fines for his atrocities, let alone the inside of a prison cell.

We locked up Bernie Madoff until he died for running an actual Ponzi scheme in '08, and bankrupting a ton of people and organizations across all tax brackets in the process, but we're letting Sam Altman get away clean with running the same type of fraud, but with data instead of money, people....

Given the US recently made a bid to fast-track multiple censorship bills, KOSA included, and is also trying to kill Section 230 now, which will pose an existential threat to Fediverse instances hosted over the clearnet, how feasible would it be to host said instances over Tor/I2P?

'Backyard Rainbow' [OC] (pixelfed.social)
submitted 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) by DFX4509B@lemmy.wtf to c/pics@lemmy.world

A rainbow popped up in my back yard and I snapped a photo of it. I gave it a 'Polaroid 669 Cold 3' film sim filter.

This was shot on an EOS Rebel T3i with a kit lens - the same camera I've been using to photograph my drawings lately.

So, given AI is destroying YT, if you're any sort of a creator at all, even if you just have some random posts from years ago that you uploaded with no intention of getting popular, you really should move your stuff to PeerTube, ideally on a self-hosted instance if you have the hardware to spare, while you still can, because things are only going to get worse for YT.

Even Odysee is a decent alternative if you want more traction, but PeerTube is more ideal as an alternative platform due to having the ability to self-host an instance there and have complete control of your content and presence down to owning the infrastructure you're posting on.

A colored pencil drawing of Hamtaro doodling in a playroom while Bijou just vibes next to him. There's a blackboard with a heart and emote doodle on it in the background.

This was drawn on cardboard.
