You have no idea how right you are

Yeah, I've been following it's enshittification for some time, but idk, this AI stuff really struck a nerve with me. With ads, I can somewhat understand that they want to make their business more sustainable, which sucks for the end user, but at least it provides a way for Firefox not to die and we could leave the work to its numerous forks to not be shit. But the AI stuff is really nonsense, not useful at all, just a way for the company to follow the hype of the AI bubble, instead of making itself sustainable.

I can only hope that turning off the AI stuff at a code level is something sustainable and easy. I've used Librewolf for some time now and it sucks knowing that this will only add work for the project to remove Mozilla's new shiny toy from the code.

Edit: maybe I'm just coping is all lol

So this is how I find out. This sucks balls.

Usually, I pride myself in having nuanced opinions. When generative AI was gaining ground and hype, and receiving pushback mainly from artists, I was sceptical, but optimistic. "Maybe this technology can be useful", I thought, not eager to discard a tool only because people could use it badly.

Now, I can say that I hate what "AI" has become and that I hope that this bubble bursts before it can grow any larger. Not only it's yet another huge useless drain for energy and water, but it's actively fucking up yet another project that I care about. I get that Firefox wants to stay competitive, but it's the worst watching it divert its limited resources towards useless AI and not to other much more needed areas.

Tbh that's a good one too

I don't remember other years' choice of word, just mild disappointed with some of them. However, this one I've gotta get behind. "Slop" is such a good word for dismissing a ton of stuff, not just but mainly AI slop. It's such a widespread blow to the legitimacy AI "companies" and grifters.

“We’ve just seized a tanker on the coast of Venezuela — a large tanker, very large, the largest one ever seized actually,” Trump said during a meeting in the Roosevelt Room at the White House.

He's such a parody of himself lmao

Of note in this article is the mention of nel0x's fork of Syncthing-Fork, which is, as much as I've gathered, and old contributor to Syncthing and more trusted member of the community than researchxxl, as well as much more transparent about the whole changing of hands of the Syncthing-Fork project.

This issue on researchxxl's fork might also be of interest, as it documents the (lack of) response to the whole sketchiness of what is happening, as well as more discussion.

I would buy a copy of a game you pirated but liked very much, just as a way of giving thanks

Hm, I don't think this was quite the one I was thinking of. Thanks so much, though, it is very much in the same vein as the one I'm trying to remember

Hey, so, uh, sorry if this isn't the right community. I'll remove the post in that case.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure I've read a quote from Lenin on Hexbear some days ago about how revolution cannot be kickstarted only by the subjugated class' ideology, but by the ruling class' as well.

Did I dream that? Or is there an actual quote? And where is it from?

I'll thank you again in the comments, but thanks in advance anyway.
