I know it’s fun to hate on the CyberTruck (absolutely has deserved it), but I’d bet money on this being a 12v battery issue, maybe from improper storage? Only reason I say this is that I have a Kia Soul EV and it gave me pretty much the exact same warning the other day and refused to start. Turned out the 12v battery was dead and that causes all kinds of weird stuff to happen to the electrical systems in the car. Especially considering that the entire electrical system of the CT is consolidated into one wiring harness.

Also, knowing Tesla, attempting to jump the 12v would probably void a warranty.

I have four kids and I took ~6 weeks of paternity leave for each of them (which was in my contract—I’m an Episcopal priest, though I still went in on Sundays because I was going to go to church regardless so I might as well lead services and save the parish money on paying what we call a “supply priest”). It’s absolutely worth it and don’t let anyone make you feel weird about it. You’re doing a great thing for your partner and child—as well as yourself. Babies are a lot of work for dads as well! Acting like dads don’t need paternity leave is a form of patriarchy.

I came here to say the same as well! Every time I see the word mitochondria I immediately return to fighting that T-Rex and those awesome green weapon range domes. What an excellent game.

Nah just having fun. I like the theory down-thread that this is the Las Vegas Statue of Liberty.

It could be that they’re not in the former area of NYC, but the statue made its way to where they are. She’s hollow, yeah? Could she float? Could she have been taken back by the French at some point and then sent to some island like Tahiti?

Or is this movie a distant sequel to Ghostbusters 2?

Similar to what was done in both Florida and Hawai’i too.

I’d not considered this before. Damn.

I switched over to LibreWolf recently. I discovered Vivaldi just a few hours before I learned about the Manifest v3 stuff for Chromium (which is a shame because I actually LOVED Vivaldi). I really want to try Zen Browser, but I’m using old, 2011-era Macs (running Ubuntu 24.04 on one) and it won’t install. LibreWolf is great because of its clean, minimal design and absolute privacy-forward thinking. I’ve enjoyed it so far (and I’m only running it on the Ubuntu machine).

Exclusively on the ModelSS?

Isn’t it in the nature of memetics that they evolve?

So, do we refer to them as “re-fired beings”?

I’ll see myself out

Was libertarian in college. Realized that a key facet of libertarian thinking involves the ideas that “government is a necessary evil” and that “government exists to keep one person’s freedoms from infringing on another’s.” Which led me to consider that if it’s a necessary evil then government should work for the majority of people. Further, government’s “umpire” role should apply to the rich since their freedoms are often infringing on mine and others’ (and wealth is a form of power that needs its own checks).

Anyway, I think I lean more toward communitarian politics nowadays.
