They definitely got Streisand‘

In the sense that now everyone has heard of them because of the UK‘s efforts to ban them.

It would make me cringe asf but similarly I would remember policing how people use words to uphold some „purity“ of language is mostly BS and your time can be spent in much better ways.

This is just my personal opinion, so feel free to disregard.

But I feel you raise some decent points. But you‘re commenting them in such an adversarial manner that it makes it unlikely the piefed devs will take you seriously.

The controlled use of fire was a key part of the development of human technology with a range of uses that greatly expanded human cultural evolution. Although evidence at a number of archaeological sites suggests the use of fire dates back over a million years, it is unclear whether the fire at these sites were created by the intentional, controlled ignition by human ancestors, the occasional exploitation of naturally occurring fire, or merely a coincidental co-occurrence. Newly published archaeological research, conducted by a multi-national team, provides strong indications that at least one group of human ancestors possessed the knowledge and the technique to create fire as needed, 400,000 (400 ka) years ago.

Cost-effective ways exist to improve your indoor air quality that will reduce your COVID and flu risk, lower your cancer and lung disease risk, and eliminate headaches and sleepiness caused by poor ventilation.

The Trump Administration recently unveiled proposed Endangered Species Act (the Act) rules that severely undermine the Act and make it easier for corporations such as oil, gas, and mining companies to push through environmentally destructive projects. Ultimately, these regulatory changes will have disastrous effects, pushing imperiled wildlife towards extinction.

A lot of those bigger assholes are CEO’s. Musk, Trump was CEO, Bezos is CEO, Zuck is CEO.

Yeah I don’t get how people have convinced themselves despite all evidence that the US is still based on “laws” as the final authority, (not just laws as a tool of power).

There’s something so uniquely terrifying about memory issues. I feel like my self is slipping away from me.
ace-disgrace-on-the-case - Here’s the thing I feel like a lot of folks don’t get: I’m not trying to forget what you said. Honestly, I really tried not to. I can’t control what I do and don’t remember—forgetting things just happens. It’s annoying for you, I know, but for me it’s distressing as hell and when you make a big deal out of it rather than just reminding me you make me feel ashamed. I’ll remember that, at least.
It costs you nothing to be kind to people with memory problems. Please. It’s scary enough without people treating memory lapses as a personal failing.

Police forces successfully lobbied to use a facial recognition system known to be biased against women, young people, and members of ethnic minority groups, after complaining that another version produced fewer potential suspects.

UK forces use the police national database (PND) to conduct retrospective facial recognition searches, whereby a “probe image” of a suspect is compared to a database of more than 19 million custody photos for potential matches.

When I watch a video I can click on the CC button. It highlights in white which means it’s “on”. But no subtitles appear.

Does this just mean the authors of the videos didn’t make subtitles. If so maybe the app should say “no captions available”. Or is this purely a problem with the app?

I’m functionally deaf and really wanna switch from having all my eggs in the YouTube basket but I’m having real trouble making PeerTube usable for me due to captions issues.
