Not for Lemmy precisely, but I said f it and never gone back(excluding random click). Trying to help AK community I was involved past few years. Moderating a bit on kbin AK magazine, but mostly either spend time on Discord where mix of reddit and non reddit sitting. Mastodon for more serious information and interaction with Lemmy, while Misskey for Arknights fanart/art with hopes that some federates to Kbin magazine(lately # not picking up sadly). Waiting for better mod tools, federation fixes.

@KonalaKoala Hello there, enjoy exploring Lemmy. Without complicating too much when people talk about federation/fediverse, here https://fedidb.org/ which lists services that uses same protocol aka fediverse. So if you don't find niche on your instance, it might be somewhere on other lemmy instance, kbin instance or somewhere on Microblogs/blogs in related #koalas #koala . If you find people with same interests you can create community yourself. It's wild, prototype, unexplored west here. GL.

@Blaze @ALostInquirer Yeah documentation is reaaaaaallyyyy lacking. Mastodon you kinda understand if you look enough, but Misskey .... If you don't use feature you won't find any information unless someone wrote a guide which is problem in it self as guides most likely are notes so it won't be easy to find one. Add to that error messages that don't explain problem, like why people can't make response to Kbin thread after some time(some did, some get error) https://imgur.com/a/3wjEcCb

It's not an insult but a way to show frustration without hurling insults.
So here in Russian like
ЁКЛМНЭ
ЁПРСТ
Ёшкин кот
Блин (pancake) to not use Блядь (whore)
Мать твою за ногу
Пиздец
Ппц
hmm that's all that comes to mind unless going into really insulting words.
In romanian I know only "Du-te in pula" "Du-te in pula mea" which is Get Fucked, fuck off.

@TORFdot0 edit profile>preferences>other>filter language and checkmark what language you want. I think it should work regardless of app, but I might be wrong as I use chrome into webapp on my android.

The only real reddit drama that I personally was invested was r/animemes with Trap ban, so it's easy to ignore chat, follows, cryptocurency, Reddit becoming close sourced, Avatars (I set up one and change it 1 time when free was given and like ehh it's gamer thingy lookalike will use it).
I got my GPDR or how it called request, but didn't login till day 20 and you have 7 days to download and 30 to request link... well I requested link 3 times and still error.

@noodlejetski @qooqie https://erinkissane.com/mastodon-is-easy-and-fun-except-when-it-isnt I read article and can say I understand many problems listed there. If you join Biggest instance then sure you won't encounter some of the listed problems, but federation isn't about joining biggest. Not intuitive UI also big factor, why greeting message don't tell Use #Hello #Привет or other language for first message? People don't understand/know about search being specific to # add to that bombardment with tips... Fediverse is bad for newcomer.

@orcrist @lvxferre There is narrowly targeted forums, case in point Totalbiscuits dedicated one. Problem lies with first rest in peace a good videogame critic. Second same as paid checkmark on Twitter. Why would you pay for service you can't trust? There is subset of people who don't make research and pay for security, but it's mentality of people who pay for confidence. Those same people who will leave Twitter and go Misskey. They will pay to support Misskey rather than to pay for a checkmark.

@zephyr I wrote my observations https://hub.hubzilla.de/wiki/kotking/Fediverse/Home . It's a really Work in progress and raw, but I mentioned and credited source some questions you have. Still think how to fill Kbin section and as I use Misskey also will be written about... But it's so much feature bloat that I would need wiki for wiki... Half joking.

@seansand @vis4valentine Yeap first thing they do is say test or hello... And nothing. Then they wonder why there is no one, or why only 1 tab with news especially non English speakers are dumbfounded. I just look at live feed if in mood> see someone asking for help or test> explain # and how important to use them to find people or be found qnd how only # works in search bar. I don't blame them because not every top boosted post has # but a little proding, use # local language and voilà progress

@Drunemeton @DmMacniel Nope, as someone who upload gameplay videos can tell you, you need to verification yourself before they will allow to post links in description. So all links provided by Youtuber are because they are trustworthy or just gone through the verification process. I am lazy to do and my country is not supported for monetization so no deal for me to go through = no outside links in description. You can try it for yourself.
