No, that's a stew. A coup is a long procession that's waiting for something.
It's well-deserved confidence. The game alone would have been intriguing with just the sheer amount of choice that's available, but the fact that it's all excellently voiced is icing on the truly delicious cake. It's one of those games that probably will only keep your attention for one or two full playthroughs, but those playthroughs will definitely be different for every person. If you want to give it a shot during the Summer Sale, you can finish at least the first part of a playthrough well under the refund time for Steam, in case it's not your kind of game.
I played these games for the story. The campaigns used to be pretty solid, with good action and a lot of good moments. I'm not saying they're excellent still, but Modern Warfare had both the nuke and "All Ghillied Up" sequences, Modern Warfare 2 had the up-until-then relatively unexplored front of the United States and the "No Russian" missions, I was genuinely interested in Advanced Warfare's story, and if you want to go really far back, CoD 2 had some excellent missions that really nailed the scope of battles in WWII. A big part of the reason that Titanfall 2's campaign was so highly praised was because they had the talent behind Call of Duty's campaigns working on it. I'm not saying the multiplayer is any small part of the game, but there's at least some subset of people who played it for the campaign.
It's not a sex thing. It's actually a lot worse.
The game is about spreading Managed Democracy to protect our way of life, with tip screens like "If an alien ever attempts to engage in negotiation, SHOOT THEM. We mustn't believe their lies," and "Helldivers who fail an objective do not get sent to freedom camps. This is merely a dissident rumor," and "Remember: FREEDOM!"
There's an entire mission objective based on raising a flag while you salute it, with cameras recording it for the millions of innocent civilians back home you're protecting with the gentle outreach of an iron fist.
While spreading peace through the galaxy, your character will shout things like "Say hello to democracy!", "Freedom never sleeps!", "How about a nice cup of liber-tea?!", "How do you like the taste of FREEDOM?!", and "You'll never destroy our way of life!"
The PA on the ship announces things like "Every bullet fired is a freedom seed planted in the hearts of our enemies," and "Do not think of rebels as human. If our views are alien to them, they are alien to us."
They didn't cancel it after the second season, it's even worse. They released the first half, announced the second half of the first season was coming and renewal for a second, then released the second half and canned the second season. We barely got a single season.
I absolutely appreciate all the work done recently, but I was wondering if there was any chance we could get thumbnails that, when clicked, don't have ?thumbnail=1500&format=webp
appended to them. For some posts, it doesn't make a difference, but for longer posts, or posts with smaller text, it makes the image blurry unless you click into the post comments, and select the image there. It feels like a needless extra step when trying to open an image.
We are the Dorg. You will become a good boy. Resistance is futile.
Apparently, at least for groceries, there's an estimated extra $700/year increase next year, with food costs slowing to 2.5-4.5% increases in general, but sticking at 5-7% for bread, vegetables, and meat. It's still going to cost an average 4-person family $16.3k a year for groceries, though (AKA just over half a full-time minimum-wage salary, prior to paying taxes).
Metro reported a 14% increase in profits for their last quarter compared to last year, and Loblaw's 11%. According to Google's earning statements of the last year, Metro has made 27.4% more profits in the last four quarters than they reported in 2020. Loblaws, on the other hand, is actually down 12%, though Google reports they had two really bad quarters this year, and posted a 40% increase in profits between FY 2022 and 2020. So yeah, nothing as egregious as the article, but they're still outpacing (year over year for the last quarter) both regular and grocery inflation.
I'm sure if I really wanted to, I could dig up the same financial information for Soebys, but I have no clue if Walmart and Costco would keep clean financials readily available for Canada.
There's a virus in the station that's giving everyone aphasia.
Sometimes people need some help with the obvious.
